Do I have to cut out junk food or food such as burgers, pizza, etc? I’m 18 165

What are your goals? If you are looking to lose weight, calorie deficit is the key. Cutting junk food helps you eat less calories. However, learning to fit what you like eating into an overall healthy diet will be better for you in the long term so you don't start to label foods as bad or good.

Yes. Sometimes you have to do things that are hard to get the things that you want.

Hi U1190484283-
You will feel better and reach your goals faster if you make an effort to cut back on junk food such as fast food, burgers, pizza, soda, desserts. We suggest taking small steps to slowly limit these foods, no reason to go "cold turkey,"

Fueling your body with lean proteins, heart-healthy fats, veggies, fruits, low-fat dairy will help energize you and provide you with the macro and micronutrients you need for optimal health. Here's some info on building a healthy meal as well as snack options:

Things like that can be included in a healthy lifestyle but in moderation. I definitely found when starting out that cutting those things out helped until I got used to my daily caloric limits. Maybe once a week allow yourself a meal like that & see how it affects your daily calorie limit and also your energy levels & digestive reaction. It’s amazing once those things are out of your system for awhile how our bodies can negatively react to them. Good luck.

I am 17 5’2 and 50kg is this over weight? And what would be the best way to loose/maintain weight I am quite active and generally eat a balanced diet

Hello U1190647778 Welcome to MyNetDiary!
Your weight for your height (classified as your body mass index) is in the healthy range.
I would discourage you from dieting or eating differently to lose weight.

During high school, there is a lot of pressure to obtain a “perfect” body shape and size. This quest for perfection and focus on your body can place undue pressure on you both physically and mentally. Some people find that after devoting a lot of attention to how they look, they end up feeling worse about themselves.
In fact, research shows that teens who have negative thoughts about their bodies are at increased risk of developing an eating disorder, nutritional deficiency, low self-esteem, and depression.
It is great that you are active and eat a balanced diet. Strong work on making these healthy habits part of your normal routine. And yet, while tracking with an app like MyNetDiary can be helpful to many, for others it can trigger an eating disorder. I am concerned you may be struggling with distorted body image and possible disordered eating thoughts.
Do your parents know you are using the app? Do they know what is going on with you in regards to food and your body?

Please know this comes from a place of genuine concern for your health both today and into the future.
Finally, we do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to use the app without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. If your parents are not aware of your use of the app, then please stop logging and delete the app.
Here are the terms and conditions of the MyNetDiary app:

If you feel you may be struggling with disordered eating, we have provided some resources here:

Again, your body weight is healthy per medical guidelines and I would not encourage you to go on a diet. Take good care of yourself!
