Diet crashes over the weekend Topic

I wish I could cook for everyone at the weekend, however, everyone in my family eats meat apart from me, so it wouldn’t be best for me to cook. Although, I have tried to say my input on meals over the weekend and this weekend I am determined to stick to a healthier portion size.

I think you are on the right track when you mention portion size. Weigh/measure the portions, eat very slowly and chew lots—really savor each bite! Then when you’re done, try leaving the table and brushing your teeth. That works for me, because toothpaste makes everything taste terrible AND I don’t want to have to brush all over again, so it’s easier for me to stick to my eating plan. I also keep a little diary and celebrate my successes when I follow through on strengthening healthy habits. Good luck!

I normally have nandos grilled chicken as my weekend joy. I feel better eating chicken eventhough the sauces are bad

I’m going to a restaurant tonight. I love my red wine and chicken curry. My plan is to order the smallest size of wine then have sparkling water in between. I will have just veg and take out the rice. Then have a 2nd small glass of wine to savour. Most of the appetizers are deep fried…. I might try to get a plate of green…. I’ll see how that goes.

Hi there Jude- It sounds like you have a great plan for your dinner this evening! Mapping things out ahead of time and even pre-tracking can help you stay on track and enjoy the meal and overall experience. Let us know how it goes! Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I find any alcohol really stalls my weight loss and it takes a week to get back into fat burning. The trouble is I love to wind down on a Friday night with a couple of drinks.

U1190628174 - I have found several lower calorie versions of premixed coolers this summer, most of which are quite tasty.
There are some wine based ones as well that are premeasured and not too bad on the calories either.

Hey U1190628174,

I am a Mich Ultra (low carb beer) fan and that has been my go-to beer lately. (less than 100 calories and only 3 grams carb) Love it in a frosted beer glass to unwind on weekend. There are actually a ton of lower calorie alcoholic beverages out there for active fit people. Check it out!

I have also found that sometimes it is all about the glass. I will have sparkling water with a lemon, lime, or orange wedge in my favorite wine glass (or even a frosted beer glass:)

Here is a helpful MyNetDiary article on alcohol alternatives that might give you ideas.

I sometimes add sparkling water to my wine to make it last longer. I also have vodka with a 0 calorie flavored sparkling water. I do treat myself to beer sometimes, as well. I wish I had the willpower to just drink water at parties. Thankfully, I’m a homebody, so the parties I go to are every few months. Anyway, hope the sparkling water ideas help someone. Remember, being losers makes us all winners! 😉
