Eating under my required calories Topic


The reason I started this plan was because I wasn’t loosing weight. I wasn’t eating enough calories, imagine? So now I have this number to go by but I don’t always eat the calories required. I’ll eat but I will at least 100-200 calories left over. Will I still
Not loose weight?


I am doing the same thing,not eating enough calories per day. But I’m drinking more water so I feel full longer.


Are you still loosing weight?


Not eating the extra 100-200 calories should not effect your weight loss. But everyone’s body is different!

Sometimes it can take a bit of time before the scale reflects your hard work.

2. Eating 200-300calories less per day (below the predicted goal provided by the app) may be what your body needs for weight loss. Try this for a few weeks and if you are still not losing, change up your plan.

My calorie maximum per day is 1000, so it is easy to get all of them in. It is so hard not to go over. I am 4’8” and 83 years old, but have s good appetite. This is what my dietician set my calorie count at if I want to lose weight. 1100 I lose slower, and 1200 keeps me at a stable weight. I weigh too much for my height. I can do it for awhile but then I sabotage myself. We go out to eat too often. I do get exercise in. So frustrating.

Strong work on prioritizing your health! I'd suggest focusing your attention on diet quality. This includes making sure you are eating regular meals (3/day), eating lean protein at every meal, getting in planned activity, including strength training, and staying hydrated.

As we age we want a little extra "meat on our bones." This helps provide an insurance policy for example, if we should fall ill, have digestive or dental issues. Plus with any weight loss we lose muscle in addition to fat. As we age we NEED that muscle to help us stay active and healthy. Muscle loss is a real issue as we age. Slow weight loss, if any weight loss at all (I don't know your individual details regarding weight or health) is what I would suggest.
I understand your concerns! It is hard to meet your nutrient needs at 1,000 calories a day. I'd suggest striving for 1,200 calories a day and 60g of protein (20g/meal of protein).
You mentioned eating out a lot- Restaurant food is often prepared with more fat and sodium than cooking at home. Perhaps look up the nutrient information before heading to the restaurant? That way you can find leaner items that will fit, eliminating surprises.
