Exercise Bike Topic

My wife recently bought a home exercise bike, though curiously I've been using it more than she does. I'm pretty new to 'exercise equipment', but we must have exercise bike aficionados in the community.does anyone have any tips on how to get the most out of one of these? ??

Hello SofaJockey,

So glad you are using the exercise bike! Gradually increasing the intensity and duration is important. You may also find that alternating the intensity from high intensity to low intensity works to both keep you on the bike longer and to reap the beneifts of interval training. They call it High intensity interval training (HIIT) in the exercise world. Here are two articles I found that have some solid guidelines for beginner exercise bike plans. Hope you find them useful!

You may also want to search YouTube videos to see if there are any live workouts to try and use as a guide.

Keep on riding! Brenda (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Thanks. I have been increasing the setting for 30 seconds, then easing for 90. That seems to work nicely.

Hi Sofajockey,
You may need to change your user name to BikeJockey- hah!
Glad you are finding a plan that works for you.

Very funny. Granted, my username is one I’ve used for many years and sums up well my (previous) sedentary lifestyle. ??

Hah! Well, then it will be a reminder to you how things used to be!
