Exercising and no movement on the scales Topic

Hi all. I’m really frustrated. I have started doing resistance training 3 days a week and making myself walk every day and eating well with no alcohol and yet the scales are stuck. And I don’t think they are broken! any thoughts?

Hey Jessicahamilton,

This is Brenda, dietitian with MyNetDiary. I responded to your message in the "Ask a Dietitian" section and in it I asked a lot of questions to help prompt you to think about why you may not be losing. It can be frustrating when you are not seeing progress on the scale. When working with people in the clinic, I would see clients hit a plateau, then next week or so lose more than usual. How long have you been at a plateau? Are you also considering how your clothes fit? Sometimes, the inches show more than the number on the scale, especially with resistance training. Here are some articles that you might find helpful:

Please keep following a healthy plan, you just might need to tweak your calorie level and/or exercise plan or make sure you are logging with accuracy.

Hope this helps! Brenda (Dietitian)
