Finding a balance Topic

I’ve struggled with anorexia in the past but I feel that I am now over weight. Not by much but enough I feel uncomfortable (I am starting to notice my belly jiggle when I walk. ) I’m 5.2ft and 142lbs and I’m 19.

From my research I’m on the fence of becoming over weight I think.

Greetings FindingABalance,
I am sorry to hear you are struggling!

Figuring out what body shape and weight feels comfortable to you can take time to sort through. It is such an individual process with ups and downs. It can take effort and patience to get to a place where you feel settled in your body, especially if you have struggled with disordered eating. To answer your question- are you becoming overweight? Absolutely not!
More importantly, health is not just about a number on a scale or how your body feels with a full belly. It is so complex and nuanced. I am sorry to hear you are struggling- and hope you are able to reach out to friends and family during this difficult time.

While tracking food and exercise can be a valuable strategy for users wanting to improve their health, unfortunately, it can reinforce unhealthy behaviors for those with, or at risk for, eating disorders. I would suggest you stop tracking and weighing yourself. Next, I would suggest getting some professional help from a counselor who specializes in disordered eating and from a dietitian who also specializes in this area as well. They can help you work through a definition of health that goes far beyond your shape and size.

We at MyNetDiary take disordered eating very seriously. Please review this information which also contains additional resources. We created this to help folks like you! https://www.mynetdiary.com/do-no-harm-mynetdiary-supports-healthful-eating.html
Hang in there! We are wishing you the best with your recovery, overall health and happiness. Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
