H pylori and battling IBS associates along with it! Topic

Been almost 18 months of it going on, my diet has been reduced to very limited flavors and the same things daily. Still get flare ups and not sure if I’ve completely rid my self of the infection even with course after course of antibiotics. Don’t know if they make it better for the time being but then worse overall or what. If anyone has experience at beating it completely I’d love to hear about it. I’m a health nut, manage to stay lean year round but, it’s crazy hard with my digestive tract fighting me every step of the way and making me feel half of my self in every way.

Oh no I’m so sorry Hpylori is awful and it took me two years to bring back regular foods! At one point it was yoghurt and bread I couldn’t do coffee, tomatoes any acidic foods including sweets. I used to feel like I was having an asthma attack after eating food but Omeprazole really helped I did that and used gaviscon liquid to top up. I did short courses because I’m not big on meds despite being in the medical profession. I don’t have IBS though so it might be that you system takes a little longer to settle down. Even after healing up k would have flare ups with excess coffee or over indulging even years afterward. Hpylori is the worst. I only discovered it after I boarded a flight and couldn’t breathe and passed out in the plane! Thankfully it was a short flight and I was taken by ambulance to the local hospital in Geneva. It was one of the worst experiences of my life!

Hi U1191362723-
Sorry to hear about your digestive troubles. No fun!
Have you consulted with a registered dietitian who specializes in IBS and H pylori? It can be challenging to navigate both conditions on your own.

If you are on antibiotic after antibiotic you may well have morphed into c-diff. Please don’t try to go this alone… I hope better times are ahead for you.

I was diagnosed with h pylori about 30 years ago had a course of antibiotics and found stress related issues triggered it !! Have suffered on and off for the last few years also thinking about it!! I now just use Omeprazole when I have the awful swollen lining feeling sick days and have tried to steer away from stressful situations !! PMT/ peri menopause & menopause have all been contributory Factors !!being on HRT helps!! I think the key is to eat healthy foods wherever possible get plenty of exercise and drink lots of water!! steer clear of stress 😀

Do you take probiotics? I’ve started taking and has helped me out so much with my digestive issues!
