What activities do you do in the summer to stay on track? What schedule have you found that works best for you? Thank you for sharing, in advance!

Hi Carrie,
Great question to get summer exercise ideas from others! We moved to Florida from Denver a year ago and I am being challenged to figure out how to keep a fitness plan going in the humidity! Whew! The heat is really cranking up so here are some things I do now and have done in the past:
* Joined a fitness center, this week in fact, so I can do classes and work out inside. Took me a little while to ask around and figure out a good fit for me. They have a walking track inside in case you like that idea plus a pool for water classes.
* In the hotter months, I ride my bicycle earlier in the day. It is fun to hear the birds chirping.
* My husband and I got headlights for our bicycles so we can safely ride at dusk and after dark when cooler. It is fun to ride to the river and watch the sunset.
* Love to do fitness tapes in the home and when my kids were younger, sometimes they'd do them with me. We laughed a lot.
* Now, I enjoy finding fitness classes on YouTube. I am amazed at home many classes are free and there are so many different time lengths, you can tailor it to how much time you have. I have been trying different yoga classes on YouTube.
* When my kiddos were little, I would take them to the pool and tread water while we played.
*We also just danced, usually to the Beatles, inside. They know a lot of the Beatles songs now. haha
Planning ahead for seasonal changes helps and also making a fitness game plan for the week is important. I like to keep my gym bag on the chair in the kitchen so it is ready to go.
I am sure others have great ideas to share with all of us. It is great for us to learn from each other!
Let's go get sweaty!

I started doing my exercise regime at the height of an unusual heat wave here in the UK so I started my runs in 30 degree temperatures! I thought I was really really unfit. I really struggled.
Now that the weather has cooled off I feel invincible and can run much further and I think it was just the temperature. That said the really hot weather makes you really sweaty when you exercise so I think of all those extra calories and salt I am sweating out of my body! :D

Hey Falcieri,
Way to go continuing with running! Yes, temperatures make a huge difference! I am visiting in Colorado and the altitude (after being away for one year) is impacting me.
Drink plenty of water!
Keep exercising! Brenda (Dietitian)

Something else I was very bad at - staying hydrated! I drink gallons now! :D

Hi Falcieri,
Same here, this UK heatwave is killing me, I'm having to do my daily Dog walk at 10.30 in the evening just to make it bearable, Our poor dog is so confused LOL. I have a couple of set routes and try to beat my previous times, but some of these hotter nights I've ended up slowing by anything up to five minutes over 1.5 miles, getting home the Dogs all but dead and I feel like I've run a double marathon, but we've got a couple more months of it yet to come. :(

Hi P74bjm,
Great idea to walk at night when cooler! A lot of us Floridians have headlights on our bicycles so we can ride at night! The first time I did it I felt so wild and crazy. We see lots of others out there doing the same thing!
