Increasing calories to lose weight? Topic

Is it possible to lose weight even though I am increasing my caloric intake? I had Bariatric surgery 8 years ago and what I didn’t know at the time was that I lost both fat and muscle. I also was not eating enough calories. Roughly 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I not only stopped losing weight but started to gain weight. Per the app I am actually required now to take in more calories from 1200 to now 1600 and I have had to get creative with my smaller stomach. I am not sure if this will work for me but I am going to give it a try. I need to lose 25 pounds of regain. I am also doing some weight training and swimming due to arthritis.
I appreciate any advice I can get.

I’m
Not sure but I think if the app is configuring certain macros and amounts we should lose . I am 10 years post gastric bypass . Lost 200 but gained 100 back . This app has helped and I’ve already lost 10’lbs in two weeks . Good luck

That’s awesome. Thanks

Hi there U1196321906-
Strong work on making your health and weight a priority!

Most people use the app as a tool for weight loss, which is great. Tracking is an excellent way to see how our habits impact our weight loss. And it is convenient to track water, calories, exercise, and supplements in one place.

However, the calorie estimations built into the app will overestimate calorie needs for individuals who have lost a lot of weight, especially for those who have undergone bariatric surgery.

I would encourage you to set your calorie target at 1,200 calories/day divided into 3 meals. Strive to eat at least 60g of protein daily and include strength training as your body allows. This article provides additional information on using the app post-weight loss surgery: https://www.mynetdiary.com/food-and-exercise-tracker.html
