Me against the world? Topic

How do the rest of you handle it when it seems as if everyone around you is out to unthinkingly sabotage you? My kid wants to share cookies with me, husband says he’d rather eat frozen dinners than share my new options, mom who’s dying to try this new (expensive) all you can eat buffet. I feel like I’m walking through a minefield!

I don’t think you’re going through anything different than anyone whose trying to lose weight. When I started nutrisystem back in 2008-09 my family did the same. They simply feel bad for you and think their being loving. It would be wise to sit them down and explain to them how you feel and that this is what you want to do for yourself. It isn’t easy, but you need them to support you and if they know why you want to change your eating maybe they’ll turn around. Stay strong and remember your the only one that will get hurt out of this they won’t.

Smile. Say no thank you, nothing else, you don’t have to justify your actions. Smile. Quietly lead by example. This is your journey, they are on theirs.

Congratulations on your health journey and making decisions to love yourself. Bad food aka the SAD diet & fast food/easy quick fix will never do anything good for our bodies or minds.

I agree, a simple no thank you and leading by a quiet non verbal example is the best approach. Think of it as protecting your inner peace both body and mind.

You might also want to opt to eat at times the kids are off to school when you can and when your spouse is off at work again when you can.

Make your meals a calm time and feed yourself well balanced meals so that you are not caught off guard. Know ahead of time if you go out to eat what you will have as your healthier option, so that it’s a done & done decision and maybe even politely order last.

Prepare healthy snacks/meals so you can easily stay on track and avoid the pleasure trap easier.

Most often family just wants that special time when trying to share a cookie or meal. It’s why so many use food as part of socializing.

But true it’s not always the case and sometimes sabotage attempts do come from the ones we love the most. None the less the more you continue on your journey and humbly express throughout the process by that quiet non verbal victory maybe they too will hop on the bandwagon!
