Minor procedure - can’t exercise Topic

I’m frustrated as I had a nice or procedure (sclerotherapy), which meant I could not exercise at all for 72 hrs (I did go for walks) & can only do “light” exercise for another week. For me this is so challenging as I workout everyday & push myself. I’m worried this will set back my weight loss somewhat. ☹️

It’s not a race, look after your health as a priortiy, the rest of it can wait.

Hi CanadaAnne- Sorry to hear your worries are preventing you from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Not being able to exercise can be hard. Especially if you rely on it for calorie burning and mood improvement. I completely agree with offthehipskip- Do what you can to take care of your body today. The weight loss will come! Best in your healing. Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Weight loss actually comes from having a calorie deficit not through exercise. Exercise is obviously good for toning and mood but moving within your current limits will ensure that when you do resume, you won’t injure yourself.

I understand how you feel. I haven’t been able to move since january due to a health problem too and I need a surgery with months of recovery ahead. That’s why a needed to get on diet again. I’ve done a little research for myself when you need to lose weight but you cannot exercise. Reducing stress reducess cortisol (cortisol make difficult to lose weight), drinking water before and after eating helps too, more fiber than usually to help your organs work, higher protein intake (low protein makes difficult to lose weight) and that almost no calories intake (for example, 500 or 700 calories for some days) gives your body the wrong message that it needs to maintain energy to protect you, so therefore you cannot lose any weight, we need a calorie deficit between healthy limits. I expect this can help you as I expect will help me as well. Excuse my poor English. Get well soon!
