I’ve been with you for a while, but I have a problem you may be able to help me with. I cook from scratch most of the time. Sometimes with a recipe, sometimes not. Also, I hardly ever make the same thing exactly the same way 2 times in a row. Putting all the details in is laborious and time consuming. Is there a way for me to use honest estimates?

Strong work on cooking from scratch. It allows you so much more control over the ingredients. Though as you have noted it takes a bit more time to estimate calories and nutrient composition.
Are you using the staples food feature? I'd suggest using that when logging your foods, just look for the apple and folder icon. This is the most accurate way to figure the nutrient content of the foods you are preparing. Here is some additional info on this feature: https://www.mynetdiary.com/mynetdiary-food-database.html
You might consider entering your favorite 20 recipes into the MyNetDiary app. That way they are ready when you prepare some version of them. If it feels hard to do this on your phone, consider the web app. Simply use the same email and password. Finally, to answer your question about portions, many people find measuring portions using household measures such as cups and measuring spoons work well, or you could weigh your food on a gram scale. I find this works well for meats, artisan bread, and cheese.This article provides tips/tricks:

I'm brand new here. Last night on a digital scale I measured cooked sliced turkey breast by grams and it was only 7 calories. How can that be accurate?

Welcome to the app! Good idea to use a gram scale for meats, cheeses, artisan bread etc. Make sure to weigh your meat after cooking, as it shrinks when heated.
