â??MyNetDiary already does the grunt work of calculating the recipe weight for you so don't bother using weight as your yield since you lose portion size opportunities!â??

This is a bug.

Almost all foods change weight during cooking. Pasta, grains like oatmeal or cornmeal, rice, etc. all gain weight by a factor of 2-3 during cooking. Meats, vegetables, sauces, casseroles, stews all loose weight during cooking due to evaporation of water. So the weight calculated by MyNetDiary (presumably as the sum of the weights of the ingredients) will almost always be in error, often in great error. The recipe creation dialog should always give the user the opportunity to correct the net weight of the whole recipe so the proper calculation can be done when entering a weighed portion later.

There doesnâ??t appear to be a work-around for this either. If I edit a recipe in the web app there is a field for entering the weight which initially contains the incorrect calculated weight. If I edit this to the actual net weight, save it, close the app and then come back to it either in the web app or in the iPhone app, the incorrect calculated weight re-appears.

It looks that from June/2013 no work has been done... :( Still the same problem with recipe

Hi Rima0531, there is expanded recipe functionality with Maximum membership (on web program), and more features are coming soon (cooked weight override, cooking instructions, etc). Support is still working on recipes for sure. Sorry.

I am confused by the title. This is how to edit custom foods that have been entered. It does not contain information on HOW to enter a recipe.

Hi U5641638, here is an updated post on recipe creation that might be more helpful: http://www.mynetdiary.com/tips-for-accurate-recipes.html

FYI - new food items and recipes have similar functionality - your custom recipes are handled like custom food items. Recipes are now fully modifiable (both recipe header fields as well as ingredients).

Hi there!

Is there a place that I can view all of my customized recipes that I have created and saved located

within MyNetDiary dashboard or app on my phone?

Thanks for your help!

I see that this was written in 2012, so is naturally out of date. Here in 2018, can custom foods be shared via mobile app? I will not be using the web for MyNetDiary use on a day-to-day basis, and am using this app along with some other family members. When we eat a meal together, it would be really AWESOME if only one of us had to create the custom food and then share it with others editing for portion size. Is this possible with the mobile app? I can't seem to find any way to see or share custom foods.

Yes, Chaddy5! If you send your family members a friend invite, you can share each other's foods and recipes. Right now, you still have to login to the web program and go to person's community page to see their list of foods and recipes (and to click on the copy link). We hope to update this so that everything can be done via app, but it is not there yet. Let us know if you need more guidance on this.

I used to be able to create recipes in my iPhone app. Now, when I click on what looks like a pencil taking notes icon, I get a move/copy/delete choice instead of going to the recipe creation page. I don't want to move/copy/delete. I want to create.

Where did the "create recipe" function go in the iPhone app?
