NO MORE SITTING. I have various health and body issues that have prevented me from exercising. I also have replaced knees which means I can’t kneel. I have torn rotator cuffs from picking up my grandbaby. I am looking for ideas on how to get started moving.

Hi U2228948- Strong work on getting started moving! I would suggest you start with something that won't aggravate your joints. Perhaps considering checking out
Yoga or pilates or water activity AKA: Hydrotherapy. Here are 2 articles that might shed more light on these options. Finally, I have always found physical therapy to be a great resource when dealing with injuries. Perhaps getting a referral from your Primary Care doc to see PT would be worth considering. Take it slow and remember, Progress, not perfection.

Thanks! Not up for Pilates or yoga yet but water would be great. I’m trying to find a way to go to a pool that doesn’t cost $65 a month. I also need to find a sitter for my dad. I normally only get out on Sunday mornings for church unless someone can agree to sit with him. I’m also looking for chair yoga I can’t stream on my phone or iPad. That way I could be at home with him. Any ideas for that?

Dear U2228948,
I have found a lot of seated exercise videos on YouTube. Here is a link with a bunch of them. Always make sure you follow your doctor or physical therapist's advice on safe exercise for you and modify as necessary.

Another program, developed by a nurse, that is quite popular, is Sit and Be Fit. Here is a link to that program. She also has DVD option.

Please share on forum what you found worked for you so others can benefit! You are not alone, many people find home exercise a practical option. I use Youtube for yoga when I want or need to stay home:) DVDs are great option also.
Keep moving! Brenda (Dietitian)
