I am fairly new to eating right and logging my meals etc. it’s going well. I leave for vacation tomorrow and won’t have as much control over my food. I am planning on watching portions and making good choices. However I’m trying to decide, do I skip tracking for 6 days and then get right back into it or do I continue logging, making best guesses when necessary and deal with the fact that I will probably be over for the 6 days? Trying to decide which option will keep me most motivated to get right back on track.

It’s a vacation, just have fun and don’t stress about what you’re eating that much. I would say just worry more so about how much you eat day compared to what exactly you eat. Only think I would try and stay away from is a lot of sugar - as in limit sodas and dessert items.
Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Hi there U1190479550-
Welcome to tracking! We are glad to hear it is going well.
Vacations can throw things off when it comes to weight loss. However, they don't have to undo all of your hard work. Here are some tips that may help. https://www.mynetdiary.com/vacation-weight-gain.html

Travelled 19 days to FL and Texas and gained 10lbs. Back to lowering my calories and carbs and hopefully get it off. At 70+ metabolism is a lot slower ergo so is weight loss. Can’t workout as intense as the good ole days! Carpe Diem!

My advice for high-days and holidays is just to concentrate on enjoying yourself and don’t worry too much about what you eat on those days. The important thing is remaining in control. Give yourself permission to do it and then draw a line under it on your return and just get back to your plan again without guilt.
If you could see my chart you would see three steep upward zig-zags within the overall downward line. These relate to 3 pre-planned ‘diet breaks’ - for xmas, my birthday and a trip away.
I stuck to my eating plan daily calorie allowance right up to the day before each one and then didn’t weigh, or even open the app, until a date after each event that I’d set beforehand. I then just logged my new increased weight and effectively started again from that point without trying to cut down further to make up for the gain.
If I have a bad day, I do the same - accept it, log it, and just get back on plan.
It works for me. I’ve lost 61lbs in the last 10 mths even with those three breaks.

For me, logging keeps my head in the game. I may just have to take a wild guess at a big restaurant meal, but the fact that I logged it - regardless of calories - keeps me from falling completely off the wagon. That fried shrimp platter and dessert might have totaled 3000 calories, but I logged it, by golly! I may be off the diet that night, but I’m not off the program!
It’s the same thing with exercising. I try to get 8 minutes minimum of anything; walking, stretching, or gentle calisthenics. If I miss a day, I’ll miss another, then another.
Personally, this allows me to splurge a bit and enjoy myself without going absolutely crazy (which I am prone to do).
