Weekend free for all ! Topic

Hi all!
Any ideas on combating the weekend " amnesia" in regards to tracking and making healthy choices ?
Like clockwork the min Friday night rolls around I forgot about my routine and good habits .
I basically slide with an extra glass of wine on Friday , get back to good habits for most of sat , then have an amnesia induced dinner . By Sunday I'm usually back to my healthy routine as it is my cooking day for the week . I have lost 15 pounds during 2020 , and need to lose another 15 . However this cycle I am on is really " gaining 5 on the weekend , and losing 5 Monday -Thursday "
Any suggestions ? I would greatly appreciate it !
I am a 51 year old woman , love to cook , swim 4-5 days a week ....I have lots of healthy habits but I can't seem to kick this weekend problem !

Hi Daniellehouser- Welcome to MyNetDiary! It sounds like you have great focus during the week and reward your hard work and a long week with food and drink. You are not alone! A lot of people battle this-
I am curious to hear what's worked for others? In the meantime- have you tried pre-tracking and proportioning your food/drink for Friday and Saturday? Maybe chatting over Zoom with a friend or doing a yoga video would keep your mind off the desire to munch in the evening? Here are some tips on staying motivated to lose weight that might be helpful!

Hi there U1189821937- Thanks for chiming in! Any other tips that have helped you navigate the weekends and stay on course? Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Weekend binges are a problem, get urges to go off track then gain back what I lost. How to keep up even when seeing friends and fat who don’t track or worry about weight loss.?

Hi U1189690815- I am sure you'll get lots of feedback from your post as weekend eating can be tough for a lot of people!
You might try setting a goal for yourself such as a special treat- something to reward yourself with. This can help keep the motivation tank from dipping too low. Normally, as Dietitians we don't suggest using food as a reward, but it this case it may help prevent you from going off track.
