I'd suggest checking out this awesome resource: https://www.myplate.gov/tip-sheet/healthy-eating-teens Instead of focusing on calories, might you focus on tracking these metrics:
1. Did I eat veggies today? If so, did I eat a colorful mix?
2. Did I eat fruit today? Which new fruits have I tried?
3. Did I drink water today?
4. Did I move my body in healthy ways?
