Ozempic ? Topic

Anyone have an opinion?

I am a diabetic and I used Ozempic for a year, at the beginning I lost 12 pounds. I don’t recommend if you have a weak stomach, it made me very sick. As well as trulicity made me very sick.

Hi there Meemaw234-
Welcome to MyNetDiary! I hope your tracking is going well.
Are you curious about Ozempic for blood glucose management or weight loss?
Here is an article that discusses the use of GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic for weight loss. https://www.mynetdiary.com/injectable-weight-loss-medications.html

The most common side effects are nausea and stomach upset which it sounds like Kendal experienced.

Hope this offers some helpful information. Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I have been on Ozempic for 10 months and have lost 56 pounds. My doctor started me on 1/2 dose for the first two weeks then said to double it. Since I immediately lost weight I never doubled it. I have been on the 1/2 dose the whole time and occasionally even take a few weeks off to see how I do (generally well except for Dec with all the goodies around). This drug has worked very well for me, all the "food noise" is gone from my head. I do not have diabetes but have suffered from hypoglycemia for over 30 years. I no longer have hypoglycemia episodes. My blood sugar stays stable, my headaches have lessoned. Side effects were mild nausea for a few hours a few days a week and occasional diarrhea a few times the first few weeks but nothing else. Have rarely had side effects from it since. During the last 10 months I have charted my food intake and really studied where my failures were coming from and how I could change that. Eg. I discovered I often lost track of time and forgot to eat lunch, then around 2-4pm found myself starving and gobbled up anything and everything I found. When I make a point to eat a high protein lunch around 1pm I no longer want to overeat later in the afternoon. I also feel so much better physically if I don't eat after 7-8pm. I wake with far fewer stomaches in the morning if I don't eat late in the evening. It has been an eye opening experience really figuring out what is causing my overeating. I am almost out of Ozempic and my insurance will no longer cover it so I am curious to see how I will do . I have high hopes as I didn't just take it to use as a crutch. I took it while really studying at the same time how to change my eating lifestyle.

Hi Otter1,
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is awesome that you lost weight and learned your over-eating triggers. No doubt, with all of your studying, you will continue to maintain even without Ozempic. Please keep us updated on your progress! We are cheering you on! Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Thank you ! Nice to hear you've built a short goal plan with it. As me I so strongly agree its learning new habits about works for us.

Hi, I just recently joined MyNetDiary and started with the weight management program through my clinic. I wanted to get healthier and lose weight with the big 60 in just a couple of years. During the 1st weight management appointment they did all sorts of blood work and as of yesterday I officially became a diabetic with an A1C of 6.5. I was told that was the number at which you become a diabetic if you are that high or higher for an extended amount of time.
I started Ozempic and Metformin this morning and waiting to see what the effects will be for me. I will share my experience in hopes it will help others. As if now I don't need to take insulin and hope to get my numbers in check with diet and the two meds I started today.
Thanks Otter1 for sharing our experience!

I started Ozempic about 6 months ago. For the first 4 months, I ate less but not the best choices 3/4 of the time. I lost zero pounds. About 2 months ago I dusted of the MyNetDiary app and started tracking again. I've since lost 18 pounds. About 10 pounds to go.

Ozempic is great as it does help me from becoming ravenous but I'm living proof that it's most beneficial when you pair it with healthy eating.

I'm Diabetic and my A1C dropped from 7.2 in July to 6.2 last week. I'm not stopping......

That's awesome! We all know there is no "magic pill" and this proves it. Great you are getting your A1C down, I'm sure the pill helps. But big kudos on not relying on it for weight loss and doing it the good ole' fashioned way of diet and exercise :)

Ozempic ?
