Anyone out there? Topic

I have over 100lbs to lose in the the next year. Its going to be a long journey and I was hoping to find some support in this group, but it doesn't look like many people have been around lately. :(

We can support each other!

No, people really don't post to the groups much. I've been kicking around here for almost a year, lost 80lbs.

I'd be happy to keep in contact.

Wow! That is fantastic progress. I hope I can stick with it like you have. I just am so sick of being fat, but part of the issue is I am so damn lazy. Its a vicious circle. Too fat = No energy and no energy = too fat! I don't have the confidence to hit the gym, that place is scary!! I am starting with just walking MORE. My average steps is about 2500 at work, So I want to hit 3500, just by making more trips around work. Then keep increasing and maybe move up to a treadmill for longer walks! Take things out a couple at a time instead of saving it all up for one trip. Things like that. I haven't had pop in a week and a half (Sugar free red rains though, not great but I gotta get going in the morning somehow!) Thanks for replying. Sometimes its just nice to talk to people dealing with the same kinds of challenges. The friends with 20-50 lbs to lose just don't have the same kinds of issues as those of us with more to get rid of do.

It's not the easiest thing, that's for sure.

I don't go to a gym but I'm an avid cyclist and I've been doing more weight training along with body weight workouts which require no special equipment.

Above all else though I find diet to be the most important factor. Having this app on my phone really helps me plan and be mindful about my eating which is something I need.

Beside keeping a food diary I heavily modified my diet to eat foods I feel nourish and support me and cut out foods that make me feel tired, moody and not my best self.

It's a long road, but I feel having more to loose helps me be more patient with myself that folks who have less to do. Not beating yourself up about an off day is vital. You just get back on board the next day.

In a fit of motivation the other day I decided to give a biggest loser 30 day jump start a try. I just did the first 10 minutes and was pleased that I was able to do just about all of it (modified versions though) However I did learn that my living room floor is kinda bouncy and probably not the best place for someone of my size to be trying to jump up and down! Scared the crap out of my cat :)

In another moment of motivation I decided to buy an elliptical cheap from Kijiji... When I told my bf I bought this thing he kind of gave me a sideways look that clearly said "I bought you that Wii Fit and you used it 20 times at most, what makes you think you will use this thing? (that clearly is going to take up space in my hobby room)!" My goal is going to be to do it at least 3 times a week, for as long as I can without dying (so about 15 minutes to start I think :) )

I have been keeping pretty good track of all the things I have eaten, although a few beers may not have made it into the log... I hadn't read the weekly analysis feature until yesterday, and I really like it. Its encouraging while still giving helpful advice, like I need some more calcium in my diet. I have been trying to plan all my meals in advance to make sure I don't go over in cals too. I find supper the most challenging, to make something good and healthy, that will satisfy my bf, and have some leftovers for lunch the next day.

Its nice to to talk about these things!! So thanks :)

Sounds like you're on the right track. My cat gets pretty confused by my workouts too. He likes to scratch at my yoga mat when I do crunches.

Filling healthy dinners are the thing I spend the most time thinking about food wise.

This time of year I tend to make a lot of soups and stews. Filling and they can be really lo cal but full of nutrition. They can come together mid week pretty well with the help of a crockpot. I can have a great from scratch soup done when I get home with enough left for lunches or dinner the next night.
We also do tacos mid week a lot. Extra thin corn tortillas, beans, fish or tofu filling (or whatever you're like) seasoned as we want with cabbage, radishes, nutritional yeast (sounds funny but it's good flavor with almost no calories), a dollop of yogurt instead of sour cream and a dash of hot sauce. It all comes together in 20 to 30 minutes.
