Hi there Peaches- Welcome to MyNetDiary!
Have you tried measuring out your crackers and cashews into a small bowl before you snack on them? I counseled a client who lost weight simply by pre-portioning all of her snacks ahead of time. Then when she was hungry, she ate her pre-portioned snacks and didn't allow herself to go back for seconds.
Here's an article on estimating portions you may find helpful:

Hi Peaches- You are welcome! How's it going with measuring out your snack portions? Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Hi Joanna, I'm still having problems with my eating. I guess my problem is Overeating. Even though I've measured out a small portion but I will go back to have more. It always happened once I start eating snacks. And it usually happens every one other day because I don't have the urge to eat the next day after overeating.

Hi Peaches-
It takes time to change our eating habits. Especially if we've been eating a certain way for many years. Here are some tips that have helped others when it comes to stress eating/snacking.

Hi Joanna,

Recently, I read that pickled is good for our body. So, instead of eating a lot of calories-loaded snacks, I ate some only and then ate pickled carrots.
Do you think is good?

Thanks.

I am T2D & was just told I have CKD in early stages. I want to lose 60 lbs & read it's best to eat 50% calories for breakfast, 30% for lunch & 20% for supper. I am 205 lbs, 5'4", 64 years old. What I cannot figure out is how to portion my carbs, proteins & fats. Please help/

Hello U1187496509,

Thanks for reaching out. I would follow a plan that fits your style where you spread the calories out throughout the day. Half the calories at breakfast seems like a stretch for most people. We usually advise people with diabetes to spread the food intake throughout the day so your body can better metabolize the sugar created. This works much better than eating large amounts of food at one sitting.

WIth diabetes, you can aim for a moderate amount of daily carbs. A typical pattern is 40-45% carb, 20-25% protein, and 30-35% fat but there is really no specific ratio recommended. Here are some articles you may find useful.

Hi, you mention you don't have a lot of requests to add oxalate. Well, here's another, for what it's worth. You also cite a lack of data. Can't you at least add it for the foods that are known to be high in oxalate, such as on the government list you mentioned? I recently had huge medical bills for hospitalization followed by multiple outpatient procedures for large (9mm) kidney stones. I'd like to avoid a repeat of that, and tracking oxalate would help. Thanks!
