I went to the chiropractor with severe pain in my back and legs. She suggested I do an elimination diet and not eat soy, citrus, sugar, wheat, corn, dairy. Then after two weeks I can gradually add those foods back to see how my body reacts. I found a diet on dr. Oz and started today. It was 569 calories over my allotment on this app. What do you think? I am 52 years old and weigh 275 pounds. Thanks

Hi U5714305, you can experiment with eating plans to find what works best for you. I don't think Dr. Oz or most chiropractors are nutrition experts and I am concerned about the accuracy and quality of nutrition recommendations that people receive from them - especially when those people sell products or long term service.

Cutting out multiple foods will likely result in reduced calories intake, and that alone will help you lose weight. Also, when people remove junk foods, fast food, and highly refined grain foods and replace them with whole/minimally processed foods with a lot more fresh fruit & veggies - most people feel better. This has to do with improving quality of diet and perhaps a lower sodium load vs. getting rid of food allergens.

Having said that, if you truly suspect you have a true food allergy, be sure to get tested by an immunologist (MD specialist).

Adding food back in also adds calories so unless you have learned the basics of calories control, portion control, and choosing lower calories-dense foods, you are likely to regain the weight.

Also, the more food groups that are restricted, the higher the risk for nutritional deficiences. Food allergies are best diagnosed by an immunologist with accurate testing methods (there are dietitians who work with these specialists and they can provide food elimination/reintroduction challenges).

Calories estimations for weight loss will vary by equations used and MyNetDiary uses the IOM's DRI equations. Most of us should be using "sedentary" activity level if we also log exercise. To see the daily calories bottom line given exercise performed, current weight, target weight and target date, use the Daily Analysis row in apps (or in Details tab on web).

Hi. I am trying to bulk up around 165-170 and this app tells me that I need I consume about 2,000 calories a day. Can you pease tell me what foods that have high calories, less sugar and sodium? I usually eat general milk cereal brands like golden graham, pancakes in the morning and eat Indian food since I am Indian, eat at noon through evening. Also so have acid and what time should I stop eating before bed? 10-11pm ok? What about milkshakes? I don't do any powders since my liver was messed up with those so I do natural blend of fruits icecream milk raw egg done. Sorry if it's so detailed I am just confused in this matter and I want to gain weight about 165-170 just I follow my Bmi and when's should I check my weight on a scale? 1week or 2aweek thank you for reading this.

I also forgot to mention that I eat less sugars, sodium and trans fat to keep my cholesterol in check since it was at the border line. How many grams of sugar should I limit along with sodium and carbs?

When I put in Chinese foods, I'm surprised that the analysis does not show big salt amts. ?

Hello I am sorry I have no idea where to ask this I had tried several times to post something on here but each time I have tried to put up a new topic about something I am looking for I just can't post my topic and post just disappear when I press post

As I don't know your starting weight or age, I don't know what your normal calorie level might be, and why 2000 calories was your recommended intake. The foods you describe sound generally OK for your purposes. It's not necessary to eat special powders or processed foods to gain weight. You need significant protein to build muscle, and carbohydrates and fats for energy. Otherwise the protein is burned for energy and wasted. About 80-90 grams protein/day should be sufficient, and should be divided evenly throughout the day. So your protein intake at breakfast and lunch should be about the same as at the evening meal. You should probably stop eating 2-3 hours before bedtime.

Hi, I've been using MND for a month now and I'm just not losing much weight. I lost 3 pounds pretty quickly but have stayed the same weight pretty much every week since then. I'm 5'3" and I weigh 144, I am 29 years old. I am trying to lose 10 pounds. I'd be happy at 135. I have 3 toddlers and I am a server but I set my activity level at sedentary. I do a min of 15 min high intensity interval training 6 days a week and then I run, bike, or swim 2-3 times a week. My calories are at 1345 (ish) and I am usually under. You are welcome to look at my food diary each day. I am just feeling like I am eating considerably better and more consciously than I was and I am see little to no results. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or do I need to just be patient? Is this slow of a weight loss normal? Thank you!
