Best Fitness Tracker Topic

I thought about installing a 3rd party app. Might have to do so.

No, unfortunately the 5c was based on the technology of the iPhone 5, and did not have the motion processor (or TouchID). I don't know any third-party app that has its own algorithm and is writing step data into the iPhone's centralized health app (theoretically it's possible), but otherwise they are absolutely okay. I'd recommend either Moves or Striiv.

Awe. Well I'll try those then. Thanks

This is indeed a very subjective question, but since I got my first fitness tracker very recently and have done a week of research before I made my decision, I thought I would share my few cents worth with you.

1. If you want full integration (auto-update) between your tracker and MND, Fitbit is your best bet, period.
While MND does offer integration with Jawbone Up and Garmin wearable, all it does is to pull the exercise data into MND but MND doesn't push food info to the Jawbone nor the Garmin App like it does with Fitbit.
This is something that I found out AFTER I've made my purchase. (DOH)
Bear in mind though, MND integration with any of the above trackers will require a subscription to MND Maximum (that's around 40 bucks per year on Android)

2. Which tracker to get would largely depend on the type of exercise you do, Fitbit, Jawbone and Garmin doesn't track swimming nor cycling.
If swimming is your main mode of exercise, you can look into Moov Now or Misfit Speedo.
If Cycling is your main mode of exercise, you can try Moov Now or Misfit Flash Cyclist Edition. Alternatively, you can use GPS-based app such as Strava to map your route and count your calorie.

3. Functionality wise, Garmin Vivosmart HR+ is probably the best one on the market, as it offer heart rate and GPS tracking on top of the usual activity and sleep tracking. Having a built-in GPS means that you don't need to take your phone with you when you go for a run.
The drawback with this model is 1) price 2) thickness.
I think it looks wayy too thick on a woman's wrist and most certainly not something I would want to have on 24/7.

4. I think Fitbit Charge HR is a good all-rounder and good value for money as it is probably one of the cheapest models you can get with built-in optical sensor for heart rate.
If you want something that has more smartwatch kinda features, Fitbit Blaze is worth looking into too.

5. If you want something more stylish, something that you won't mind having on your wrist 24/7, Jawbone UP 2 or Fitbit Alta are the ones to go for but neither of them have heart rate monitor.
However, you can always get a separate chest strap for heart rate if needed, which is more accurate than optical heart rate sensor anyway.

6. If you don't feel like charging every few days, opt for Misfit or Moov Now as they use coin battery that has a battery life of around 6 months.

For me since my main mode of exercise is cycling, I shortlisted my choice down to
a) Moov Now
b) Misfit Flash Cyclist Edition
c) Jawbone Up 2
d) Fitbit Charge HR

In the end, my conclusion was that my ideal tracker has yet to be developed. I basically wanted something with the look and simplicity of Jawbone 2, the sensing and coaching ability of Moov Now, the price and battery life of Misfit Flash and the app interface and optical heart rate sensor of Fitbit Charge HR. Unfortunately, such dream device simply doesn't exist in reality.

I got very close to getting the Fitbit Charge HR but after trying it in store, I ordered the Jawbone Up2 from Amazon in the end. Price and look being the main driving factors. I am coupling it with other apps for route mapping etc., with the possibility of purchasing a chest strap for heart rate in the near future.

I would stay clear of Charge HR. I bought one along with many people from work to start a walking competition. After 1 year, every single band broke off, pealed away, bubbled, or in some way just failed. Those fortunate enough to catch it within 1 year of warrantee received free replacements. I, who was 2 months to late, was given a 25% off my next piece of Fitbit junk but too late as warrantee was over. It also caught on my long shirts and jackets...kind of a silly design.

iPhones track your steps now. It's about 80% as accurate as the Fitbit so I just add 20% to whatever it says ;)

That's too bad about your experience. I'll take your advice
