Breakfast suggestions? Topic

Another great resource for recipes is Eating Well magazine and website (www.eatingwell.com).

As far as those concerned about the cholesterol in eggs you should not be so worried. Dietary cholesterol does not directly equate to blood cholesterol. Cholesterol is just a functional unit of fat. When you eat cholesterol your body recognizes it as fat and will process it as such. There is an intermediary metobolite (still unknown) that causes the body to either turn that fat into HDL or LDL in the blood. Eggs are one of the best things you can eat and it one of the most complete sources of essential amino acids.

I've heard great things about Canadian Bacon and egg whites (for the cholesterol wary). Egg Beaters makes an all-whites version. I like to make a 1/2 breakfast sandwich using 1/2 of a whole grain English Muffin, egg whites, a slice of CB, and a slice of low-fat cheese. Yum!

I like an egg white fritatta I think it is, kind of like an omelet but with no cheese. I just chop up veggies throw them in a shallow dish with egg whites and bake them in the oven. Very delicious and I just add some spices for taste. It sounds healthy but not too sure what the calories on it would look like.

If you go the eggs route, you can always use 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites instead of using all whole eggs (For quality of flavor, use free range chicken eggs for your whole egg--> their yolks are better for you as well as tastier). Cottage cheese is a great choice, though you'll need to account for it's higher sodium count. Cottage cheese + fresh chopped tomatoes + sliced green onions + freshly ground black pepper is a tasty morning breakfast.

I like whole grain high fiber English muffins with peanut butter and strawberry preserves. That is breakfast with a throwback to childhood!

Hello Everyone,
I am new this week to MyNetDiary, and really counting on the app/website/community being the support I need to achieve my goal healthier lifestyle!
I love to cook, and I love good food. Over the years I have found many great recipes within Weight Watchers Cookbooks, Cooking Light & Light Cooking Magazines. Trying new recipes is my absolute fav, I get bored way to easily with the same old day after day. I welcome the chance to share recipes, ideas and support with everyone on this team. Lunch is difficult for me, in that I would prefer something quick and simple. And veggies, have never been a favorite of mine in general, although I eat more and more all the time. I would love it if you could share any of your suggestions to get me started.

Sorry everyone, I just realized I submitted this post on the "Breakfast Suggestions" topic. I will give the breakfast topic some thought :)

a protein, an egg a healthy carb., oatmeal and 1c. skim milk simple whole foods keep me full till lunch if I stick to my plan,

jam or jellies are full of sugar. This will not work for me. I am a food addict. the whole grain muffin and peanut butter is good. dip the apple into the pb susan

I have been making my own jam - that way you can control the amount of sugar that goes in. Most of them will not totally jell without a ton of sugar, but if you are ok with them being more on the syrupy side, you can make your own jam out of whatever fruit you like without any preservatives or tons of sugar.
(I'm really into home preserving, so this is just a thought, some people are not as much into the whole 'make everything you can from scratch' mentality)
