Breakfast suggestions? Topic

I just started on 6/22 and have about 40 lbs to lose. Does anyone here have any low carb high protein breakfast suggestions? I am really burned out on this protein shake I've been having and eggs are so high in cholesterol. Any suggestions would be helpful . Thanks

If you like fish, I find it a great option for breakfast. A delicate white-fleshed fish like sole, poached even in the microwave, is fast and satisfying.

Thanks...funny I never thought of fish for breakfast but I do like it...guess I have to learn to think outside of the breakfast box, so to speak...

I love to cook and "Cooking Light" magazine is my bible. I don't have any breakfast suggestions off the top of my head (I usually do cottage cheese and juice or fruit.) but the "Cooking Light" website is GREAT --- do the "Advanced Recipe Search" and choose "breakfast", "low carb", "no eggs" and see what you come up with (then share!!)

I am a FOODIE and love to cook and share recipes. I hope you all will share good ones with the group!! I'll post some when I get more in the groove of this site!

I have many of the cooking light mags gathering dust (how embarrassing) and you are right..their recipes are great!! Thanks for reminding me..I've been so busy working so many hours I am forgetting the basics and losing my creative touch!!! This website is great and you are all great!! Thanks for the advice, it is well taken and I will try to find some good recipes to share..

Perhaps foodie's are supposed to me overweight. Seriously, how can you trust a skinny chef? I'm a foodie too, and I love out of the ordinary breakfasts.

I can't do the protein shakes, but I really love yoghurt so I've been eating a lot of that. I add some LSA to it, and then I get the calcium and the fibre I'm looking for. Might be too carby for you though? Not sure what you're aiming for.

For a low-carb breakfast, if you have time, how about Eggbeaters or somesuch low-cholesterol partial-egg product? Scrambled with herbs or veggies it is terrific.

Another great resource for recipes is Eating Well magazine and website (www.eatingwell.com).

As far as those concerned about the cholesterol in eggs you should not be so worried. Dietary cholesterol does not directly equate to blood cholesterol. Cholesterol is just a functional unit of fat. When you eat cholesterol your body recognizes it as fat and will process it as such. There is an intermediary metobolite (still unknown) that causes the body to either turn that fat into HDL or LDL in the blood. Eggs are one of the best things you can eat and it one of the most complete sources of essential amino acids.
