I think I'm getting misled both in good ways and bad ways due to my scale...just a cheap digital scale.

I'll have to see what brand I have at home. I know when I was buying them, I did some research online. I had to make sure the scale went over 330lbs, as that is where I was at the time. Most scales were only accurate to 300. I ended up with a body fat scale.

Researching scales I found that the most problematic thing was the deviation between measurements. Take the scale for a test in the shop - turn it on, step up on the scale, make a note of the read-out, step off, allow to shutdown, turn it on again and repeat. Cheap scales I found were giving +/- 1.5 kg (3 lbs) on a series of 10 measurements depending on how you stand on the scale and that is not good... Moving to the next price-level completely removed this annoyance compared to the cheapo brands.
