I've been journaling for the past 30 days. I really haven't been on any 'diet' per se, other than 'awareness', knowing I have to write down and look at the impact of the food I am eating. That alone has steered me in the direction of greater balance. It's not that I only eat 'healthy' stuff, which I do - but not only that. I've lost 12 lbs in my first month and there were meals (I'll spare you the gory details) that didn't look even remotely like a diet. But every day, at the end of the day, facing what it all adds up to, facing poor choices and seeing them clearly so as to know how to make better choices - that alone has got me on a very encouraging trend. I have not exercised very much. As my first bike ride of the Spring yesterday (15 miles, 2 hrs, 2500 feet up and down of climb/descent), I *can* exercise, but I prefer to do something I love, like that bike ride yesterday. It damn near killed me, but if I died, I was going to die happy. That's the relationship I want to have with exercise, not a 'must do' but a 'want to do'. I hope this encourages even one person that is feeling down today. And I hope it encourages others to share there success. That can be very encouraging, and I for one could use the encouragement.

i started on my net diary on jan 2011 i weighed 443 lbs when i started today i weigh 207 lbs. i lost 236 lbs in 13 months by watching what i ate and exercising no surgery and no gimmicks. just hard work and dedication.when i first started i decided to stop drinking sodas i used to drink at least a two liter of pepsi a day.I then started recording all my food that i ate on this app it was easy i never realized how many calories i was eating i was very unaware and did not care what i was putting into my body. I used to watch the biggest looser and eat 50 hot wings and drink 3 big bubba kegs full of cranberry juice and vodka just the vodka and cranberry juice was more than my aloted calories for the day so i got into calorie counting. I tried exercising i had all the exercise equipment at my house but never used it so i got on my stationary bike i could not even do it for three minutes i was very discouraged but i did it. A couple of days later i decided to try my stair stepper i did it for a wopping one minute thats right one minute and i was pooped. So i sat down about thirty minutes later i tried it again same thing one minute i was pooped i sat back down i was discouraged again. About twenty minutes later i got back up did it again my exercise routine had started you see its not how much you can do what matters is that you do what you can you have to start some where and that is what i did i started their and i have progressed from their. I have taken many more steps to get where i am today. At the peak of my exercise program i now exercise 4 and a half to 5 hours a day now i watch the biggest looser on dvr and do my stair stepper for 90 minutes non stop while i fast foward the commercials what a difference a year makes i work out every single day i never miss a day and i record every thing i eat and every exercise i do, I go between 20 to 35 miles a day on the tweadmill and exercise bikes and the elipticle machine i do 440 mile on the elipticle and today i did 10 miles in thirty minutes on the bike on level 16 so if you put your mind to it you can do any thing when i startd my journey i decided it took me 20 years to destroy my body i could dedicate 1 year out of my life to try and fix what i had destroyed i have lost over 29 inches on my belly. But the sad thing is that on january 1st i could not weigh my self because i did not have a scale big enough for me so that is when i began my weight loss journey and i did not get my scale until january 19th so even though i have lost 236 lbs i will never know what my real starting weight was so i say to you if you truly want to loose it you must dedicate yourself to it i will be more than happy to help out with whatever i can i hope this inspires just a little bit, because my sister inspired me to do it because she lost 115 lbs and seeing how much happier she was and how much better she felt was inspiring for me and i wanted to do what she did.If i can help with any thing let me know i am more than wiling to clue you in on what i eat good luck and god bless

Hi everyone! Great stories. I've been using My Net Diary since January 2012 and I've lost 33lbs so far. I weighed 365lbs then, my goal is 220. I'll re evaluate from there if needed.
I'm pretty active and had a sports related knee injury last June. Moving forward I knew it would be easier on my knee if I dropped the weight. I figured better now than later.
I eat a mostly vegan diet with minimal processed foods. I feel great and I'm looking forward to the future.
