Fran,
Like you said 8 lbs under is better than 8 lbs over! Holidays are always tougher since there are more events with lots of temptations...you will do fine!

Well, I made it through the company Thanksgiving potluck relatively unscathed today. I definitely had some dessert, but I worked out extra hard this morning to "earn" it.
Hope everyone is doing well and has their healthy eating "game face" on for facing the holidays!

Hi Team:
Past 6 weeks have been pretty rough. I'm down about 50 and seems like all the energy I had to make the change is gone. I'm trying to get back on track but it just doesn't seem as important any more--not sure why. I like the changes but I'm tired of having three jobs: work, family, weight loss. Any words of wisdom? Sure could use some advice.

This is going to sound wierd. What is in your weight loss tool box? That should include things that have gotten you this far. Like the reason you are doing this, the things that have worked, the reason you got to the weight you were (everyone has an underlying reason and for the most part it is not just a love of food). Once we identify what is the problem, we dont have to fix it, as some have no fix, but we need to see how it impacts on our weight an find another way to handle it. You need to think about the reason you need or want to loss and focus on that. Know everyone of us will slip but our success will be how fast we stop the slip and get back on track. I think the most useful thing for me each day is"I don't have to do this forever just now or for today or for what ever " It helps to make things more manageable. I was so discouraged about a month ago thinking I would have to do this forever. I thought no way can I do this.I was told that and every difficult day I think just for today, for me it worked. You need to think also, what has changed right now? Holidays are hard.If you slip, be mindful to get right back to this. That in itself is a victory. We can talk more about tool boxes if you like someday. Hope this is of some use. Happy Thanksgiving Fran

I feel your pain. This is one of the toughest things that I have done in my life. Most of the other tough things I went through only lasted for a month or two at most. You have been at this for almost a year and the end is still probably seven, eight or more months away. It is tough. But you can do it.
The tool box Fran talks about is so important. It does seem like a job. But as Fran mentioned this job will not last forever.
It took several years even several decades for some of us to get where we were a year or less ago. That is a thought I keep in the back of my mind when I get down. Then I allow myself a little bit of "sorry for me feeling" or "nobody knows what I am going through feeling", I then ask for help, and move on.

Sorry if I was not clear. This job will last forever but I need you to think just for today for now. Don't look at it forever to discouraging get through that way. The here and now each day is easier. That allows each day to be a success or atleast a learning experience. The whole picture is sometimes to daunting.Weight loss and more importantly weight maintainance is a lifetime commitment without that mindset we are doomed to repeating this through our lives. In my situation I have heard some of my contempories talk about "when I am done or have reached my goal" like they can go back to like it was before. I think that is why we can loss the weight, as a whole but just not keep it off. You can do this. We are all a this journey some of us have a longer road. This morning my total was 140 pounds less than half my starting weight. I have been at goal (10pounds ago) and am trying to master the maintainence phase. I know if it is important to you, you can do this. You need to decide why it is important to you.

I've just gotten over a bit of a slump and have been feeling great again.
You have to think of the rewards you get, not just the trouble.
Like you said, it's a job, you get paid for a job so make sure you have small goal steps set out with good rewards!
I've lost about 4 Kg in the last couple of weeks and can't wait to get the rest of the weight off.
When I hit 80Kg i'm having a big dinner of KFC.
When I hit 75Kg (my ultimate goal), hmmm... not sure.... any suggestions??

While I love KFC, my first major reward was clothes that fit appropriately. I think Chavous did the same thing. The next reward was a sports channel subscription here in the US.
As it is the Thanksgiving Holiday in the USA I will now take a few lines and offer and thank all of you here on our team for adding comments and other things as you continue to work on your goals. This may sound a little sappy, but I find inspiration in the things you do and the support you give others.
