Thanks Fran. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Trying to focus on the real pleasures of Thanksgiving--being with friends and family. It is not all about the food. That said, I will eat a little of everything and do some extra walking and exercising to counter.

One of our most important stratergies all times of the year is planning. I try to have some type of ,even if it is vage, food plan every day. That includes the Holiday. They find more food slips happen when we fly by the seat of our pants than if we have a plan. I use to think that was rediculous but after doing this sucessfully for so long I have to say I make less slips when I have a "clue".Helps me to make better choices. I am going to "bank" some calories for Thursday and since I am cooking I will include somne treats for myself that are less indulgent but still wonderfual.

What is everyone elses plans to enjoy this Holiday during and after as far as foods? I will be interested to hear. These types of topics shareed will make this a more useful forum for us.

Hope to read your ideas. Happy Holidays Fran

This time of year is CRAZY! Clochette2, don't worry, you are back and can get back on track again, even with a big holiday next week. That happened with me as well.

Best,
kathy

Hi Fran, I still don't have my Thanksgiving food assignment yet, but I am thinking of some version of roasted Brussels Sprouts with toasted nuts.

Guess my question to the group is. Have you thoght of some of your food stratergies for Thanksgiving, if so what are they? Maybe we can come up with ideas we as individuals have not thought of-Fran

One of my food strategies for Thanksgiving is not drinking any calories so I can focus on the food. I do love good wine with food but will be with my family, some of whom are "teetotalers" so wine won't be a given at the table. Another strategy is to get plenty of sleep so I am not so tired that I try to compensate for my lack of energy by eating. Finally, a good long trek through the woods before and after the meal. Since I am not cooking this year, I will have time for exercise! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I like Clochette's strategy! I will also be exercising in the morning since my food assignment will be doable in a reasonable time:
Potato dish of my choosing
Salad
Bottle of white wine

My strategy for Thanksgiving - actually, I wrote about it in my blog post last Thursday! Basically:
A little bit of everything that I love - but small portion sizes and it has to fit on one plate (no seconds). I typically do not drink much alcohol anyway, but 1 glass of wine will be nice. I will do dessert, but only 1 serving - probably of apple pie.

I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy some fresh air along with the good food!

Kathy

Strategy worked for Thanksgiving! First post-turkey day weigh-in today. I am just a tiny bit below where I was before Thanksgiving and have shed a little over a pound of the almost two lbs that I clocked on my business trip in early November. Now to keep that up the good habits over then next few weeks!

Wow - good for you, Clochette2!

That is amazing. Good for you! This is my 3 rd November -December either on the diet or maintaining. Still not arogant enough not to be wary. Everyday I have to be vigilant but the fact I am the same weight as last December is an accomplishment. Always one day at a time. I don't have to do this forever just today or this minute. That is how I do it. Never look at it as big blocks just small ones.

Congrats to you Clochett2-Fran
