Doc to Patient: Don't Lose More Weight Topic

Just had a quick check up with my doctor, who put me on a diet to begin with. 30 kg loss later (110 kg to 80 kg), he took me off blood pressure and gout meds, and warned me to not lose more weight. My blood test numbers were excellent. That is a first for me. Losing 30% of my body weight, and keeping it off, has been a life changing event. Doc told me that people like me will hurt his business!! Just wanted to share!!

Excellent news. You must be happy hurting his business, and he should be too ;)

Great news! It must not happen that often in an MD practice/ You have taken control in a positive way. You should be so proud of yourself! I know it is never easy.-Fran

This is EXACTLY what I hope happens for all my patients! I would be happy to change my field if everyone figured out how to do what you did, what Fran, Sune, and all of you have done for yourselves.
Congrats, Yamanote. Way to go!

Thanks for the kind messages. I do hope MND stays in biz, as keeping a record of food and exercise has now become a habit. Don't know what I would do without the app. It's been a great tool and accurate too.

Weight sometimes is like a ripple. An unexpected perk for me is my daught decided on6/2/2010 to meet with me weekly (Thursday) and learn how to diet. She ,as of last night had lost 31.8 pond s since starting. I am so proud of her. Most of us here know how to do it. It is great to pass it on.- Hope all is well with everyone. Congrat. to all with continued success.

So, I have to tell you that since I am a dietitian, I have to be careful about what I eat around family at reunions. Folks seem almost disappointed if I am not the perfect eater every day at every meal since they look to me for inspiration. This is a good thing and a bad thing. Sometimes I just want to be on vacation and turn off my dietitian side. But the positive side is that I don't go to heck in a handbasket during family get togethers.
Funny, with all of this, they complain just a little if I buy the low fat churned ice cream instead of the full monty style. What gives with that? :)
Best,
Kathy
