Why is it that once I eat something and it tastes good to my palate I want more and more? Do any of you have those problems? And if you have an answer to why I would like to have in on it!

I had those problems before and I think that you should cook the serving you are going to eat in order to avoid the temptation. If there’s more in the pot then you are going to be tempted to have some more, try this for a week and if it works out reward yourself with new clothes or anything except food 😁

Yes, all the time! I try to wait 20 min after I’ve had my portion before deciding to have more. Usually in that time I’ve forgotten about it or feel satisfied enough to control the urge.

Hi U1189183257,
You may find some good tips in this recent MyNetDiary blog. It talks about strategies like eating slowly and getting enough fiber and protein. I, myself, find that getting enough protein and fiber really makes a difference in my satisfaction after a meal. I also love Loosen up's idea to wait 20 minutes to see if the urge goes away.

Another question how do you get enough protein into your diet. I have noticed recently I have not been reaching my protein goal and I want to know how to enforce more protein into my diet.

Is there such a thing as a “food-aholic” ? If there is I think I am one. I seem to go on food binges where I have no specific target. I graze everything in sight, even digging in the freezer for goodies. I hide them from my spouse, and try not to let him see me eat. He gives me dirty looks if he catches me and makes me feel bad. And then sometimes I can be very very good eating salads and making sure I eat protein, etc. I have to lose about 80 lbs. I am 69. I feel like I have been dieting my whole life. I weigh 220 lbs and I am 5’4”.

Hi there Amlloyd53- Sorry to hear you are struggling~
Eating large amounts of food in a short period of time or binging is something that can happen, especially after years of chronic dieting.
Good for reaching out. There's no reason to go at this alone.
Many people find the support and help they need after meeting with a professional counselor. A counselor with experience in disordered eating can help you develop healthy ways of managing the ups and downs of life. Betterhelp offers virtual counseling if you are unable to find someone in your area-

I serve myself one portion and try to put away the rest in the refrigerator before I see the tempting seconds lying around

To Scout - portion the food and put the rest away. I batch cook soups and entrees and put them in serving size glass containers with lids that can be microwaved for another lunch or dinner (and taken to work). Also, I find that relaxing after lunch or dinner with a cup of hot herbal tea helps to “buy time” until your brain/stomach receive the signal you’ve been fed (takes 20 minutes or longer). I like hot mint tea with stevia or yogi bedtime tea. Mint tea is good for digestion too.
