Consistency is the key to weight loss. I struggle with this, but I know it's important to have a fitness routine and stick to it. I'm going to try Curves - I will report back here and let you know how it goes !!

Good luck! I joined this group today and the Diary a few days ago. I am trying to motivate myself AGAIN to regular exercise. It is HARD.

Howdy. Support is the name of the game. We can do together what we can not do alone -- God knows we've tried it alone!
Actually, research shows that weight loss is done best with a partner or group -- I just couldn't find partners who would last or 'work it' so was thrilled to hear about this website on NPR. I think the price is perfect -- enough to make me serious, but low enough for me to try to do it and actually invest. OK, GO TEAM!!!!

Yes, it's hard, but it gets just a little easier every day you have done it the day before! (Don't try to diagram that sentence)

I have been exercising regularly-mostly walking and eating around 1300 calories, which is about 100calories less than my BMR, but I'm not losing any weight. I think it has to do with the medications I'm taking for my many conditions. I feel better and I think I might be losing inches- some size 16's are too large for me, but I'm very discouraged. I'm going to be 64 next month.

Try not to be discouraged. If your clothes are getting loose you're losing something, I'd think! I'm new at this type plan here so I can't really offer any advice. I'm thinking about getting a tape measure myself and starting to keep track that way also. How much weight do you have to lose? I need to lose about 80. I never thought I'd get this big.

Well, I'm trying to take small steps before I take the large steps. My first goal is 10 lbs by as soon as possible, and my ultimate goal is 40 pounds altogether. I'm in no rush, because I'm enjoying all the old clothes I had that I can fit in that I grew out of some years ago. I will have lost 80 lbs altogether in two years.

Burned 893 calories taking the subway and square dancing today. But I ate over 1500 calories. I'm still proud of myself. We'll see what happens when I weigh-in on Wednesday.
