Exercising and eating right, no weight loss Topic

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. i am new to the group and don't have the hang of things yet.

This past week I have been eating clean (almost paleo, though I don't follow it closely like my roommate does), and I have been exercising every day, if not twice a day. So far, I have maybe lost .2 pounds. Is there a reason that my increase in exercise and decrease in food intake hasn't provided better results? I'm 5'1", and about 145lbs. Thanks!

Hi MegK, there could be a number of things going on. To lose weight, one must consume fewer calories than their total calories expended (from basal metabolism, physical activity, and thermogenesis). And, we have to create a calories deficit over time to effect the weight loss desired.

Body weight fluctuates most by changes in body water/hydration. So weigh yourself first thing in the morning before breakfast. Next, be careful to log everything you consume - measure your portions. It is so much more accurate than guestimating.

Next, understand how to enter your settings. Most of us should use sedentary overall activity setting if we choose to log exercise every day. Calories article: http://www.mynetdiary.com/customizing-calorie-goals.html

Be careful to only log actual minutes of activity. Most of us overestimate total minutes.

Let me know if any of these tips helps you move the scale. Weight can somtimes take it own sweet time to budge - 1-2 weeks or so.
