Feature Request - Let us choose to import Apple Health Resting Energy and Active Energy Topic

I gave the finger to My Fitness Pal and Fitbit when I found they didn't let us export our data in a useable format. And found MND which appears to allow extensive creation of graphs, and to get our data out in useful formats.

I was using a Fitbit at the time.

BUT, I switched to Apple Watch, and to my despair found that MND does not support importing either Resting Energy or Active Energy from Apple Health. They have an explanation buried in the FAQ page under the iOS Technical Issues section. I vaguely understand what they are saying, but then they state that they can't just add Resting Energy and Active Energy together to get total energy. That sounds.... totally wrong. Of course you can. That's the whole point.

They do make a point that sometimes there isn't data recorded by Apple Watch, presumably when the watch is off my wrist. BUt that's an easy fix. Just make sure that the Total Energy is always at least the number that MND wants to use for BMR, or RMR, or whatever they want to call it.

Personally, I don't care about anything except the total energy in or out over the day.

And easy to calculate the active energy just by subtracting MNDs Resting Energy number.

In the FAQ, MND seem to have washed their hands of the problem, and imply that they are waiting until all the apps / device makers work out something consistent between them.

We all know that isn't going to happen, except by accident. Apple, FItbit, whoever, DO NOT CARE about interoperability. They do not care about making things easier for companies outside them.

So if the Total Calories (by adding Resting and Active Energy) is accurate then that number is perfectly good to import.

I understand that MND supplies a guestimate of base energy using equations that are generally accepted and trusted.

Thats great for people who don't have a watch or some device that keeps track of motion and calories expended.

But those of us who DO have such devices need to be able to get that information into MND. So just let us specify that we want to use our device calories expended (active and resting = total).

That's OUR choice.

WIthout this, MND is only useful for tracking food, NOT tracking the balance between calories in - calories out.

I was delighted to find MND a while ago because it seemed to solve the problems that My Fitness Pal and Fitbit have of not giving us useful graphs, and more egregiously, not letting us get OUR OWN DATA out in a useful format for graphing.

I was using a Fitbit, which data got imported just fine into MND. All sorts of data.

Then I switched to an Apple Watch, and have finally got to setting up MND again.

And found THIS incredible problem. I despair. I really do.

I just want to see all my data together so I can run useful graphs and analysis.

I've been kicked in the nuts by My Fitness Pal, Fitbit and now seemingly MND.
