Feature request: Showing foods by weight only Topic

I just started using the app yesterday and it seems really good, except I don't know if I'm doing something wrong because entering foods by weight seems really complicated.

If I search for pretty much any food, I get a ton of results and most likely one of those entries would be close enough for my entry. I just have no way of telling which, because the calories are shown by the default portion not by weight. EU food labels show nutrition by 100g, so it's impossible to compare the search results with each other or the product in hand when one portion is an ounce, one is "a scoop", one is "two tablespoons", etc.

For instance I tried entering potato salad today. I had a ready made product, but I mean it's potato salad, there has to be one close enough to it in the results, right? One by one I checked calories (open food > try 100g weight to see the calories > not even close > go back to search results) on like seven potato salads and they were all very different from what I had in the product. I ended up adding a new product. If I just could've seen the calories by weight in the search results I would have not needed to do this at all. I could've just added the new product straight away.

Also I weigh my portions. So when logging the food, I have to always change the default to grams and enter the gram amount and only then realize that oh, these calories are very different from the food with the same name that I was supposed to enter. Go back and redo.

This is incredibly tedious and annoying. Am I doing something wrong? If not, could there be just a setting to see the foods only by (user preferred) weight unit? Just hide the ones that don't have the info. I have absolutely zero use for the portion sizes.

Hi U1197926858,
Welcome to MyNetDiary! Hope tracking helps you reach your goals! Sorry to hear you are having trouble finding the right amounts of foods. If you choose the staple and generic foods, they have the gram amounts so you can enter the weight. Here is an article and video you may find useful.
