Antidepressants can make it a little harder but treating depress. makes weight maint easier. Also note to anyone on any meds that seems to be causing weight gain. Don't just stop them. Speak to Md many classes of drugs have drugs in them that might not cause the same amt of gain. It is so individualized. I can say that as a Pharmacist-FRan
Just lesrning sbout stress eating and the efforts a neuro chemistry. Very interesting.
Hang in. Sometime 10-15 pounds can be harder than lossing 60 lbs!

Great insight, Fran - thank you. And just a thought - after nearly 4 years of tracking, I find that if I skip exercise, I am more likely to feel hungrier and overeat my calories. Same with poor sleep.

Good point- sleep! My worst days (days I skip exercise) are usually the day after I have had too many extra long days (or extra intense days - or usually both) in a row & just hit the wall. It's hard to get that work/life balance sometimes, but it has helped to have this app to force me to take some time each day to focus just on me & at least one of my goals ;)
On the other hand, last weekend - I did not have to be up at a specific time & low & behold - I was actually able to truly sleep in ! Making healthier choices leads to a healthier response from your body - makes perfect sense! Good night MND'ers

Poor sleep or not enough of it definitely affects me. Trying to rest up and commit to earlier bedtime so I can rise earlier and have a gentle work out. It is not my best time of day but it will get me moving.
Snacked too much while away for long w/e but not going to beat myself up. Will buckle down rather than get down on myself I HOPE! I can be my worst enemy.
Bitter cold again The dog will hardly go out to do her business let alone a walk ! Treadmill today
Thanks again for sharing wisdom and encouragement.

Speaking of working out, the bitter wet cold has lifted. Time for a walk outdoors in the quiet snow. The sun was out for a little bit this midday.
Stay warm, everyone!

I was surprised how much better a workout it was walking on the treadmill than the slippery streets. I am so ready for winter to be over with!! I hope the increased sunshine will be a mood booster. The scale is not budging, measurements may be reducing a wee bit, but I am trying not to get discouraged. I think snacking on popcorn and a glass of wine with my hubby in the eve may not be helpful :( I am back teaching and the routine should help. Finding the time to exercise enough is tough. If I do much activity after supper I find it hard to fall asleep. I'm at work by 7:45 so may have to try 6 am or earlier. Yikes!
Anyone got favorite workout DVDs to suggest?

Zumba DVDs- tons of them.
I walk during lunch during long clinic days - that is the ONLY way I can fit it in. I treat myself to a skinny mocha or just an espresso after the walk. I have also gotten good at eating my sandwich while strolling. Feel alert and not sleepy after lunch (okay, well the espresso does help there)!

Any particular zumba DVDs to try? I might be able to order from library. I work through lunch every day - it sucks but no one else would do the high school lunch supervision. I may have to do some negotiating there.. We have to do 70 hours of "extra curr" to get 1 day off in lieu. I'm hoping to get to Toronto to see my daughter in the spring if her band isn't on tour so need the couple of days. I've been doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred but would love to do something that is FUN - not just torture!!! Come spring I will hopefully get running outside a few days a week. Right now we've got tons of snow and so much ice - bah!!!
ZUMBA sounds like fun!

Hi VictorJane, I don't have a rec for a DVD but just try a bunch. Great to get from the library so you can figure out which ones you like (movements, music).
