started MND on Nov 6, 2013; it is Jan 4, 2014 and I am down 32 lbs so far; it dropped quickly first couple of weeks, then slowed over remainder of 2 month period; using Mediterranean food plan; works well with my diabetes; 30 min treadmill each day helps also; Happy New Year to all!


Happy to hear you are doing so well, MtnDog! Keep it up. I am just about to start teaching Mediterranean Diet for Heart Health at my clinic - I'm very excited.

Just thinking about how I tend to drink more alcohol calories over the Christmas/New Year's Eve holiday peiod. It isn't a lot - but it is enough to add signficant calories over time.

So, let's think about any residual extras we are still doing as part of the holiday aftermath and move past them!

Experiment with changing your buying habits. Will you eat fewer calories from sweets if you don't bring them into your home? Or, will you just seek them elsewhere? Most of us are influenced heavily by what we have at home, especially within eyesight!

i have learned not to keep candy around, even if it is sugar free since i am a diabetic; i tend to eat more than just a couple!


Good that you figured that out, MtnDog! I have pretty much stopped baking muffins and cakes - even the super healthier recipes since I tend to overeat them. I am quite addicted to the sugary/starch foods! Instead, I am much better about have a piece of fresh fruit + cheese or a small portion of nuts.

How's it going, folks? Starting the 3rd week of January and it feels like a lifetime ago that I was celebrating NYE. How's it going? Exercise? Healthy eating?

Doing well, am drinking less, exercising more, and trying to make sure I walk my dogs for at least 15 minutes in the morning (which adds up!). Down 2 lbs, but I think I'm benefiting more than that in terms of how my clothes fit and how I feel.
