I don’t think weighing yourself daily is helpful or suggested. Weight does fluctuate, it’s normal. I don’t even weigh myself weekly. I have found that monthly check ins & bi-monthly photos are most helpful for me.


I actually look forward to weighing myself every day and it’s been working for me. But people are different. I’ve definitely noticed the dreaded plateaus and even unexpected increases you described as well in the 3 months I’ve been using the app. I had one that almost lasted 10 days. Don’t get discouraged, in each case I eventually broke through it. I did need to adjust my calorie target down once I lost 10 pounds. The automatic calculation was not working well for me so I reduced it by 200 calories and adjusted accordingly.

I have been watching what I eat, tracking, journaling for a little over a month. I’m feeling better about myself. The first month I lost almost 7 lbs. and was thrilled. I’m struggling with not liking what I see when I weigh and letting that number control my thoughts. Is there anyone else who struggles with this?


Hello U1189851317- Strong work on making a concerted effort to improve your health! While checking progress on the scale may be motivating for some people, for others, it can cloudy their thinking and influence how they feel about themselves, sometimes in a negative way. Have you considered putting the scale away (such as in the garage or shed) and instead focusing on other markers of progress? Some people track their energy level, sleep habits, minutes of exercise. Perhaps this type of tracking would leave you feeling better about your efforts?

When I first started, I was weighing in at 232, I know weigh 216, constantly tracking foods that I have eaten and walking on the tread mill. I cant run due to an accident that I had and broke my left leg( I have rods and pins ). but its been two years pass the accident and walking is helping. So, now I'm super busy at work cleaning(custodial work) no time for the treadmill. I do use my apple watch for workout as "other". I can burn up to 500 active calories and more(it takes longer time to burn). I noticed I've gained two pounds..???. was it because I'm not on the tread mill? also at times I fall short about 300 to 500 to meet calorie budget for the evening.... thanks


Hello U1189953971- Strong work on prioritizing movement during your day! What an awesome habit that will help keep the weight off in the long term.

A few things to check out regarding the wt gain:

1. Have you enabled the feature "add exercise to calorie budget?" We suggest for weight loss and maintenance to turn off this feature. Simply go to app settings and check to make sure it is not enabled. Also ensure that your activity level is set to sedentary. This will help provide a calorie budget most appropriate for weight loss.

2. Regular walking on the treadmill may have burned more calories than you realize. Is it possible to do some walking before or after your work? Even 15 min/day can make a difference over time.
3. One thing that's worked for many others is to check and make sure you are still paying close attention to portions. Over time it is easy to inadvertently begin eating larger portions at meals and snacks, resulting in weight gain.
