Some things to consider, did you eat later in the day then usual? That food would still be digesting causing more weight. Also did you eat more salt the normal and drink more? It’s unlikely to gain significant weight in just a few days I find it’s normally water weight and a day or to later it all comes off pluses a-little extra. Stick with it and you will get we’re your going!

Because daily weight fluctuates, and I’m easily discouraged, I weigh in weekly. It helps!

I bought new scales, and the new ones added on an extra 2.0kg 🤣 discouragement 101.
I like to weigh myself daily in the morning before food or water, then, take the average for the week on a Sunday.
Daily weigh ins help me to see any trends or fluctuations, but the average tells a better story :)

With new scales they tend to give a slightly different reading than the old ones. Don’t be put off. It is the trend that is more important. Remember thats mechanical error nothing to do with your level of fittness.

Great point U1191571711- Look out for trends over time! Fluid retention, hydration status, bowel habits, hormone fluctuations, etc., can contribute to shifts in the number on the scale irrespective of fat gain or loss.

This post and all of these comments are so very helpful right. I get easily discouraged and have the same fight with the up and down of a few pounds. Agreed, timing and understanding digestion are things I need to keep in mind.

I went to nursing school which drastically reduced my activity level and I started at 34…just as metabolism starts to slow. Stress eating is a thing too. I’ve always been thin and never had to watch what I ate, but I’ve gained 15lbs in the past 3 years. However, for the past year and a half, I’ve been trying to be conscious of what I’m eating and trying to work out regularly (not perfect but nursing school is hard!). I just keep gaining weight. People say, “maybe it’s muscle weight if you are working out”, but I had more muscle 15lbs ago. It’s frustrating to put in work and not see results. The consistent weight gain is starting to concern me.
