I love to travel, going to seattle/portland next month, and it is always nice to know the best Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants in an area before going. So I though that this would be a great thread for us to recommend are favorite restaurants in our surrounding cities.

I live in Peoria IL, which is a relatively small city. The only Vegan choices are Flat Top (a make your own stir-fry chain). One world which has vegan options, and PVII which the chef will custom make dishes for any diet type. I am 2 hours away from Chicago which has the absolutely amazing Chicago Diner which is 100% Vegetarian with every dish having a vegan option. It is all comfort foods, and amazing. There are several other options in Chicago and as I try them I will post them, I just love the Chicago Diner so much that I always just end up going there. :)

I live in Portland and vegan options abound. Vegan junk food also abounds, I'll try to keep this on the healthy side.
Blossoming Lotus - is a current fav, lots of raw options too.
Natural Selection - vegan haute cuisine.
Portobello - Italian and more, I've still not been, but everyone raves.
Sip - vegan juice and smoothie cart (also vegan milkshake).
The vegan mini-mall at SE Stark and 12th is worth a visit. Vegan grocery, vegan clothing, vegan bakery/cafe and vegan tattoo parlor.
Vita Cafe - vegan comfort food and some good healthy stuff too.
Los Gorditos is a great Mexican place that had a lot of vegan options. Darn good, less healthy than some.
Great vegan food is all over, if you want more suggestions let me know.
Oh and in Seattle try Teapot and a place in the U district called Wayward.
Again so many good places, let me know if you want more.

Awesome! Im really looking forward to my trip, and my diet is off while on vacation so it doesn't have to be all healthy! :) As of right now I am only planning to spend 1 day in Portland. I had heard of the mini-mall and that is #1 on my list, especially for the grocery store. So I am looking at only going to 3 restaurants in Portland, so what would your choices be? I am not real big on Mexican so i doubt I would try that. I looked at the Vita Cafe and I definitely think I will try that out, and may have to try Sip since that wont count as a meal. :) Seattle I will be at for 5 days so any suggestion will be wonderful. I have been looking into places and Pizza Pi has caught my attention, have you been there? So anymore suggestions would be wonderful. It has been 10+ years since I have had a donut and I have never had a vegan breakfast at a restaurant so suggestions on those would be great too. I picked Seattle/Portland for my vacation purely for the food, so I am very excited!!!

I'll give you more suggestions, but I'll start a private topic since I don't want to trigger people while talking about certain foods.

Hi evereyone :)
If anyone's ever coming to Australia I can recommend some absolutely great vegan restaurants too.
One favourite that has to be mentioned and written down in a future notebook is Veggie Hut in Box Hill in Melbourne, Victoria. They are mock-meat masters and absolutely fantastic, delicious, and their menu is longer than any menu I have ever seen in the world!.
Also I can recommend some in China, Hong Kong, and Macau if anyone is travelling there.
Apologies I have never travelled in America and I can't add to this list. (yet!)

Thanks for the suggestions and please do add your recommendations for China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The more areas to the list the better!
