Hi Chaz - welcome to our team! 50 lb loss in 1-year is about a 1 lb wt loss per week average - that is a safe goal.
I think you will tracking helpful, especially in connection to weight counseling or classes if you have that available too in your area. It helped me finally reach my goal and for maintenance as well.
Best,
Kathy

Thanks Kathy. I am looking forward to the journey, and am glad for the support. Its good to know I have somewhere to let my thoughts out. It seems to be a great deal more therapeutic for me than I thought it would. Anyways, thanks again and good luck in your endeavors.

Hi Chaz, even though I am a nutrition professional, I also need accountability and connection. I love the connection I get from MND's forum. It helps me stay accountable and maintain my hard won weight loss. I lost weight in midlife while I was training to become an RD. Although I did not have a lot to lose (20 lbs), it was enough to help me avoid BP meds and progressing to Type 2 diabetes. So, I stick with it, just as I encourage my clients and forum mates!
Best,
Kathy

I like logging some thoughts every few days too (whether on a public forum or in my own blog). It helps me identify what my thoughts really are & whether they are helpful or sabotaging my efforts. Once, identified its much easier to convert negative ideas into a more constructive concept. For instance, in our weigh & measure for or starting point my DD & I found ourselves making negative comments about our bodies & our feelings about ourselves. We made a deal that day that we would make no more negative comments. So far, we've kept that deal & it really helps.

Yes, it is incredibly important to identify negative thought patterns that sabotage our efforts. Reforming those thoughts to more positive, proactive thoughts to help us meet our goals. Now that is worth our time!
