So I'm 25 and I'm a single mom. Funny enough, my boyfriend is a personal trainer, but I don't want to ask for his help. I want to do this for me, by me, you know? I'm 5'1" at 213 pounds. I'm starting today. I would love to make some friends to keep me motivated, and vice versa.
Thanks!
Jenn

I think that is wise. Obviously the boyfriend can help you with some of the information he may have, but you really should be working on it with or without him. So, what do you prefer for exercise? I like to bike the most because it's fun and you get a nice cardio while having fun.

I have Just Dance 4 and I love it. I also like to hike or do a basic workout at home. My little one can make biking difficult sometimes.

Hi. I am new to this. I need to lose 60lbs in order to get to my goal. I look at the skinny girls on t.v. and think about how free they are to move. I look at my kids and think about how I really need to lose weight. So I am first starting by not eating so much. Then I want to move into eating healthier food. Then I want to focus on exercise. I figure I should do this a little at a time so that it is easier for me to stick to it.

Hi Lunariee, I think you are correct in keeping it seperate, but keep in mind, his support could also be crucial. But I think you know that and you are best armed to judge that. I started on 1 July this time, a week later my wife who doesn't need to lose anything joined me. She determined that by her keeping a food journal and making exercise a priority was the only way for her to truely understand what I was trying to do. It has helped immensly in keeping on track. Accountability and all.
Rcubedmom, Sounds like a plan, really use netdiary and let it guide you, set a reasonable goal and dont try to come in lower than you are supposed to. Its tempting to run to the goal. I have tried that more than once and invariably the 'diet' is too tough and I gave up. This time I am keeping to the target in netdairy, if I am hungry I eat, as long as I still have free calories for the day. The weight is coming off, and the only time I was hungry was when I was fasting for some blood work.
