Hi everyone! I'm new here Topic

Hi to everyone from Michigan. I'm old (70) but new to this group. I just added MyNetDiary to my iphone and joined online as well. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

I had almost given up on this group....nobody ever posted. Welcome Linda! How is your diet going? I am a 72 year old grandmother of 12 but still feisty and enjoying life. I have been using MND for a year now and have lost 35 lbs. These last 10 lbs are giving me a lot of trouble coming off. Have you found that it is harder to lose weight the older you get? The one thing I have discovered is that it really helps if I substitute sweet potatoes for regular potatoes at dinner time and that brown rice goes immediately to my hips ;) I shall look forward to your postings!

Are you having any luck? I seem to be on another plateau. It is very frustrating.

I've just joined (also from Michigan). I won't be seventy for another few months, but as a type 2 diabetic, this will be a long haul, and my next ten years will be spent in my seventies. My MND data is all set to be visible (why hide it?) so anyone interested can see my progress. I've also made a few MND blog entries on what and how I'm doing.

I haven't been tracking food and exercise long enough to know whether I have had a plateau problem. I expect it will show up (or not) after while. I have noticed that even though my stats show that I should have lost weight, I haven't lost much. This may be due to beginning to exercise. I may be gaining some muscle mass at about the same rate as losing fat mass. Ultimately a good thing, but discouraging at the moment.

If this group seems "slow", I will try to respond to new posts, and maybe we can "liven it up".

I will say that I can find motivation in surprising places. Last night, around ten o'clock, I noticed that I was in range of a 10,000-step "badge" from Fitbit.com where I keep track of my pedometer. I went out for a walk in the moonlight for 1.2 miles, and burned another 240 kcal in half an hour, as well as making my 10,000 steps for the day. It felt good.

Monday, I was baby-sitting three rambunctious grandchildren. It was not intended that I be left in charge (I think of myself as too slow to keep up with them), but circumstances said otherwise. I logged 32 flights of stairs keeping up with them, settling arguments, investigating shrieks, and the like. That also felt good.

Hi Pete
Still online? Just starting myself and would like to hear from someone. Where do you-all lurk?
