Hi Team 40-something! Topic

Hello Team 40 something! I am new to the group and somewhat of a career dieter. I will be 45 this month and I know it is really time to get down to business and live a healthy lifestyle. Looking forward to meeting new people for mutual support and friendship.

I'm just starting out here. Tomorrow (Monday) will be the end of my first week using the food diary. I have never done anything like this before but I have found it remarkably easy to do. I am hoping I am getting the quantities right (hard to measure some things) but I'm not stressing myself over it. My plan is long and slow, based on just 1lb loss a week. If I once find myself thinking I'm on a diet I'll blow it LOL!

I've been over-weight for years, but quite fit with it. All that changed 5 weeks ago when I fell and broke my arm and have been unable to exercise. Plus I comfort ate because I felt so incapacitated. As a self-employed one woman mail order business in a rural village with no post office or shops the impact of not being able to lift or drive has been huge.

But last weekend I saw a photo of myself and thought "enough is enough" and now I'm here!

Hi Sue,
Sounds like you are off to a great start! I am a diet hater too, but I don't think it takes extreme dieting to get to where you want be. Best of luck in your travels and with your arm. Not long ago, my mom broke one arm, got it almost well and then fell and broke the other one! I felt so bad for her having to struggle to do everyday things for months! Hang in there :-)

Hi I'm new this week and looking for support and friends along the way as I'm now 44 and want to change before I'm 50 spent too many years feeling held back.

Hi Sexj, welcome! I'm 47 and also looking for a lifestyle change that will get me fit and healthy by age 50. I started MND in July, but have lost about 28 pounds since May 2011.

Hi
you can do it! I;m 45-- I've lost 65 pounds in the last 18 months- but its exercise that is key and losing the weight gradually- I've only been using MND for a month, and it has really helped me focus not just on healthy eating but also the impact of exercise too (and the risk of too high a daily calorie deficit) A personal trainer has also kept me focused. Good luck!!

Hey everyone! I lost focus for a while. I have an injury that is preventing my normal gym activities and it is really depressing me. I want to get back on track starting TODAY. Let's do this!

You go Morningglory! I'm with you.
