I bring a small bag of nuts or mini rice cakes in my big purse!

I got a free cup of water and I brought gum and chewed it while hubby munched away on butter flavored popcorn. I figued gum and popcorn do not go together. Amazingly, I did not feel deprived at all. For the first time, I noticed the relatively few people who were eating while watching the movie were mostly overweight, obese, or they were young.

My nutritionist gave me a great idea last year regarding popcorn. Since I was eating 5 300 calorie meals a day (lots of physical fitness too), we came up with a list of mini meals. One of my favorites was popcorn with edemame. EVERYONE (weight concerned or not)I give this to really takes to it...Oh, and eat it with a soup spoon. I make it and take it to the movie with a plastic soup spoon.

Another popcorn tip from my daughter...eat it with chopsticks.

Sneaking in an alternative choice is smart! I'd be leery of rice cakes though. Check the nutrition label.. you might be (unpleasantly) surprised.
Nuts (in small portions).. cherries, grapes, dates, raisins, etc might be more nutritious.

I make up one ounce bags of unsalted almonds and keep them for snacks. At the movie I'll eat a bag along with a diet soda. I know about all the criticism of diet sodas but I still buy them when I'm out for a treat. I no longer keep or drink them at home or work.

Sorry but people that keep weight off drink 3 to 5 times more diet drinks than the avg. pop a 200 cal bag of “sweet & salty” Orville Redenbacher to take to movie 200cal with a diet zesty coke
