I'm new Topic

Just started today. I've got to lose 100 lbs. I've got to get my diabetes under control.

Welcome, it's my 3 day it's going well so far. I'm sure you'll like this app.

Hi Tammy welcome. I started January 1st, my goal is to lose about 100lbs also. I don't have diabetes yet but lots of the comorbid stuff like high BP, sleep apnea etc. The good news is that this works, it takes a bit of discipline but it gave me something to focus on and fiddle with, instead of eating. Also when you look at the charts over weeks, it is a great motivator for you. Even the days when I have ran over, I log everything, and I will say okay I was say 200 calories over today, but tomorrow I will make sure I'm not. Good luck with your journey!

I do not have diabetes, but have battled weight since childhood. I have gained and lost and and gained over and over again. I discovered MyNetDiary four years ago. My wife joined about a week after me. I lost 67 lbs, my wife about 50 lbs. the first year and now both are maintaining our goal weight +/- couple lbs. fluctuation. I found for me, weighing and measuring helps a lot. I make healthy choices today. Have a treat once in a while. I think differently today. I don't think "I can't have...", nor do I think "I choose not to have...", instead "I choose to have..." It works for me!

Hi Arseaarsea- Thank you so much for sharing what works for you! I know a lot of people will benefit from hearing from someone who "gets it." It sounds like you changed your thinking which ultimately allowed you to not feel deprived or that you "had to" eat something or avoid something. Instead, you gave yourself choices and over and over again chose to eat something that would move you closer to your goal as opposed to moving you further away. So inspiring! Nice work to you and your wife on your weight loss! All the best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I hate to be the party pooper here but like you, I have been type two diabetes for a number of years and wanted to lose 100 pounds and get down to 170 and I said to myself this will fix my diabetes along with learning how to eat properly. well it didn’t! I am still diabetic; still take insulin; my A-1 C is still a struggle -I’m only saying don’t get your hopes up too high! it’s a slow go-a slow burn, but worth the journey! I’m not gonna say it didn’t help because it did! It taught me how to plan and log meals; track statistics and evaluate my diet and lifestyle. I’m going to live longer, by God’s grace! just don’t think that your diabetes is going to magically go away that’s all. It might! It might not ??. Be prepared either way.

Hi Jacobshaner- Thanks for sharing your experience and what you have gained from adopting a healthier lifestyle. It is invaluable to hear from some one who "gets it!"
Best to you in keeping your A1c close to target range and being realistic with your health and weight goals.

Hello! I have been using the "free" app for about two months and lost 17 pounds. I decided today to pay for a subscription because I'm looking for some healthy recipes and wanted to connect my Fitbit to the app. I'm looking forward to seeing how my weight journey goes. I'm supposed to hit my goal weight by July 2021! Fingers crossed. :)
