January 2012 Topic

Hi Everyone, it's 2012! Can you believe it? I'm psyched to make some improvements myself.

Some of my 2012 goals:
1. Consistently include functional strength training in my regular exercise routine.
2. Continue with weight maintenance (130-135 lbs, with the low average of 130 lbs).
3. Limit # days of long distance travel by car so that I better control lower back pain.

I would love to hear your goals for 2012. Please feel free to share!

Best,
Kathy Isacks, MPS, RD

I lost 30 pounds last year then plateaued and kept at that weight. Now I want to loose 30 more.

Hey,
My goals for 2012:
1. Get to a weight of 130-135. But with a short term focus of getting to some where in 140's.
2. Focus on the positive in my life and be more present every day.
3. Take time for myself and work on doing more things that make me happy.

Very excited for 2012!

I would like to lose 14lb minimum with a goal of 21lb. I am also trying to have a more healthy lifestyle rather just reduce the calories I eat.

Great to hear from you all! I am glad to hear that your goals also include a healthy lifestyle, focusing on the positive, and taking more time for joy. I am a big supporter of balance in life.

Sorry to join you all so late in the day. But I'm not so good at motivating myself on January 1st. Needed a bit of time to organise myself after the holidays. Well I'm ready and hear now. Feeling positive and not stressing over the long term goal. One small step at a time for me. My next big mountain to get over is our annual Easter weekend as we have friends over fir a long weekend of eating and drinking. Really important for me to stay on track beyond that. I can't go on looking or feeling this unhealthy. Talk soon, Annie

Welcome, Annie158! Take it one day at a time. You'll build confidence one you set achievable goals and start to meet them. Glad you joined us!

Please can you tell me....
What is the"food score" on the daily nutritional summary and what does the number denote???

Hi Annie, I wrote short article on the Food Score - take a look at it and let me know if you still have questions: http://www.mynetdiary.com/food-score.html

Food Score is simply a way to compare like items before selecting. It is similar in concept to the NuVal scoring system that you might have seen at your local grocery store (if you live in the U.S.).

Although it shows up on the daily screen, there is no documented use for summarizing or averaging the Food Scores of all foods in your daily plan.

Thanks for that. What do you recommend in relation to weighing yourself???? Daily or weekly etc?????
