Hi all. Any suggestions on how to keep the momentum going? The past few days I find myself wanting to revert back to old habits. Haven't so far but WOW! it's really getting hard. Would love to hear your advice on how to avoid relapsing...Thanks.

Keeping the momentum going - have you written down goals for yourself? I find having something written and placed on my desk is helpful - I look at it everyday.
Basics of goal setting: S.M.A.R.T.
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Time-sensitive (e.g. set a date)
Buddy system (which you are already implementing)
Reward/feedback - do you get kudos from yourself and others during this timeperiod? If you are losing weight, sometimes even trying on old clothes can help remind you of your progress.
Any other ideas from team members? Let's here 'em!

Kathy

Writing down my goals has helped me to refocus. I keep reminding myself of the reasons I'm losing weight and that it takes a lot longer to take it off than put it on...

I do the same when I feel like just blowing it - think about how hard it is to recoup vs. just stay the course. Always feel better about it.
Sometimes trying new snacks and dishes can help liven things up. I'm diving into Ellie Krieger's "The Food You Crave" - great ideas, fast, and tasty. Do you like the foods you choose to eat?

Sometimes yes...sometimes no. Really for me the key is making the food. If I make it or cook it, I don't usually like it. If I can just eat it, then I like food. How weird is that?

Did you use to dine out a lot before cooking at home?

When I got my new job, I was commuting 4 hours a day. (How crazy was that?) I was too tired to cook so we started eating out a lot. Now my commute isn't as long (45 minutes) but I just don't want to cook. I resent the time and effort I have to put into it. Plus I'm a really bad cook. I try. I can follow the receipe exactly and nothing tastes right.

Try recipes from "Cooking Light" and "Ellie Krieger's The Food You Crave." Pick recipes that don't look like health foods first. Ease into it. I often pick comfort foods made healthier but they are not hard core vegetarian or plain skinless chicken everything under the sun recipes.
Let me know if you need suggestions!
