Losing 2 pounds a day Topic

Hi, to preface this I have just started using MyNetDiary. But whenever I try to eat better, or do calorie counting I always lose 2 pounds a day. I have lost 40 pounds in a month last year and my doctor could not believe it. (I sadly gained it all back from medication I was put on) After my first day of MyNetDiary it happened again. I am definitely not complaining as I am 19 years old, 5'5 and over 250 pounds... But should I be concerned? I don't think I have any health issues that could be causing this as my doctor would of tested me but I am nervous.

Hi Starzi, what calorie level are you following and are you including all of those calories daily? I would not go under your target calorie goal daily.

I am wondering if you are having dramatic fluid changes that is impacting your weight. A 2-pound-a-day weight loss sounds like fluid loss. Are you drinking plenty of water?

I would keep monitoring your weight trends, not go below your calorie target and drink plenty of water daily. Also, make sure you are monitored by your doctor to ensure you are healthy while you are losing. Hope this helps! Brenda (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I drink 114 fluid ounces a day on average. I am eating 1,890 calories average.

Starzi never assume your doctor will test you for everything because he or she won’t. I was misdiagnosed for years until I had complications from type 1 diabetes. Make sure you research your symptoms and go in armed with questions.

You need a thyroid test for certain if he hasn’t done one yet.

I also recommend doing a low-fat plant based diet. It’s changed my world for the better.

Hi Starzi, you are drinking plenty of water and eating adequate calories so I am wondering if you are losing fluid which is causing a more dramatic loss. I would just make sure you are being monitored by a doctor to make sure you stay healthy while losing. Keep us posted! Brenda (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
