Maintaining weight is harder than I thought it would be!! Topic

I can’t keep weight on to save my life. So I’m on a specific huge calorie diet. I’m still losing but it’s going slower. So I’m praying that eating as much as humanly possible for me is working at least a little bit 😂

Hi U1192660437,

Glad to hear you are slowing down the unwanted weight loss. Do you add calorie boosters to your foods like extra oil, nut butter, avocado, mayonnaise, cheese, nuts, seeds? It is amazing how the calories can add up. For example, 15 almonds have 104 calories, 1 tablespoon oil has 120 cals, and 1 tablespoon peanut butter has 90 calories. Drinking extra calories with smoothies, protein drinks, milk, and juice can also help. For example, 8 ounces of apple juice has 102 calories.

Here are some other weight gain tips in this article that you may find helpful for stopping weight loss.

Also, have you ruled out a medical issue that could cause undesired weight loss? To be on the safe side, If you haven't already, I'd check with your doctor to rule this out.

I also am struggling to maintain weight. I don’t come about it genetically or anything (I actually am considered somewhere in overweight-obese on the BMI scale although the weight doesn’t show and I am happy with my body where it is) but I am on some medication that suppresses appetite and I forget to eat a lot. When I do I normally throw it back up. I’m hoping that tracking my food will help me be more conscious of what I’m eating and how I can shove as many calories into the snack or two I can handle in a day. If anyone has any tips on that, they would be appreciated.

Hi Kendri1015,
You may want to talk with your doctor about vomiting after eating. Perhaps there is an alternative medication option or change in dosage that can occur. Usually, when someone is nauseated, smaller, more frequent meals and snacks work better than larger amounts of food at once. Could you try to eat something every two to three hours? I would use calorie boosters, like extra cheese, nut butter, and avocado, as tolerated with the nausea. Can you get extra calories in beverages? MyNetDiary Premium recipe collection has a lot of smoothie recipes that can add calories to your day. I would also compare food labels and choose higher calorie options to maximize calories. Hope these tips help! Brenda (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I agree with you. I have lost some weight, but keeping that weight off is not so easy. I’m back on the app tracking all foods and will not quit using the app this time.

Losing weight isn’t easy, and it takes commitment.
