Maximum caloric deficit - when "really" overweight Topic

I'm currently 300 pounts - BMI of 38 - so I have a real purpose on this site:).

My recommended caloric intake is 3500 per day to start losing weight. However I am currently taking 1400 a day.

I feel great - I have energy - i'm not feeling overly hungry. I'm getting sufficient nutrients.

However I've read about starvation, and the body going into hibernation mode. Am i close to that? risking that? I need to eat more to be healthy in the long run?

I am not an expert in any regard, but I have done several fasts and read up on their effects on the human metabolism. If you are consuming food on a regular basis, your body should not go into "hibernation mode". Even when fasting, the body adjusts within 3 days to the new or lack of caloric intake. IMHO, any negative metabolic changes would be temporary if you stick to your regiment. If you believe you have reason to be concerned, you should contact your doctor. Otherwise, godspeed.

While reviewing posts from others, I came across some information provided by the NetDiary Dieticians. Please follow the following link for more info. http://www.mynetdiary.com/message.do?key=10810.7.2
